Talo Navicular Fusion in a week and very anxious!

I have been waiting for this surgery since before xmas and had it cancelled twice. Now I'm a week away and although I am in so much pain with my foot I am getting reallyanxious about the surgery. I'm not worried about the recovery as I have lined up plenty to do and have an I-walk to get around. Just really anxious about the surgery. Anyone else been through it that could allay my fears?

Well, if I say I have just had my second talonavicular fusion, the first one having worked so well! - it might reassure you! But the recovery is long - no weight bearing for , what, 10 weeks and no driving for three months..... but, if as you say, you have got things in mind to pass the time, your outcome should be good. I am obviously still on painkillers (Tramadol and paracetamol) but not a huge amount. One just has to go slightly 'zen' about the whole thing - great having time to read!
Best of luck - all you have to have is a good surgeon and plenty of patience, I reckon.
Cheers (from the UK) Penny

Thanks for that reassurance Penny! As you say you have to zone out really and enjoy the enforced idleness. I'm glad your first one worked so well that you are now recovering from a second. I think the worst bit is going to be waiting for the theatre call once I'm in there. Plenty of time to be anxious I reckon!
Cheers, Shirl

The first two weeks you will have some pain but the pain pills take care of it and you will sleep during that time. After that you get stronger every day.....
Get the surgery done and start getting well.
