Hi everyone! I have a question because I cannot find definite answer from internet. Does undisplaced talus body fracture heals with a cast for 10-12 weeks of non-weight bearing. What causes avascular necrosis. I am in a cast now at 6th week. I cannot do anything except waiting. I have not had any surgery. Doctor said it will heal in a cast. Can I walk again or damaged bone collapse. plz help.

Hi whizJoe,
Avascular necrosis is when the blood supply is cut off from the bone which causes the bone to die and in my case collapse.
I had fusion in January, one plate and 5 screws.
All going well except I've fracture to 5th metartasal.
I know it's a hard slog, I'm 7 weeks in plaster, and lots of patience needed.
Hope all goes well for you.
Alison.

I've been in the same boat since the end of February. (4 months!) Worse is the electro cords catching
on everything . It stays on 100% of the time except showers. First it was the boot, a month later a bone stimulator to help promote protein to heal the bone. I was diagnosed with osteonecrosis of the talus. Part of the bone is dead. Last month got an X-ray nothing has progressed. As they say is a good thing. I get X-ray in 2 weeks. Then an MRI. Even after that I have to wear the bone stimulator & boot another month after that. Then after that I have no clue. I am nervous about that part.. This boot might be a permanent fixture in my life. Keep doing what you're doing. If it breaks worse or shatters I was informed I would lose my foot. My doctor still wants me to be using a walker or a scooter thing you push with your other foot. I'm being bull headed. I'm 41 I don't need one. But if no improvement I might not have a choice. I feel for you. Cuz they don't say nothing. I'm apologize for not being able to help. I just wanted you to know I understand all the frustration. Sorry about the novel
