Talus recovery - how to walk again

I am 6 weeks post op to repair a cystic lesion inside my talus bone. A medial malleolus osteotomy was performed to access the talus. I now have 3 titanium screws in my medial malleolus. An autograft from my iliac crest was performed to fill the hole in my talus after the cystic lesion was cleared. The lesion was benign.

I was in a cast/splint for the first week and a boot for the last 5 weeks. My X-rays looked great this week and my bones are healing. My OS told me I am FWB in my boot for the next two weeks and then FWB barefoot or with sneakers moving forward.

However, I have tried for the last 3 days to even take one step and I cannot do it. The pain is very intense. I just don't know how I am going to walk if I can't even stand to put any weight on that foot. Plus, my ROM is terrible and I have been doing exercises since 2 weeks post op. I start PT next week.

Has anyone else had trouble getting started when you were given the green light to start weight bearing again? How do I get started walking again? After being bedridden for the last 6 weeks, all I have been thinking about 24/7 is being able to walk again --- and now that I can, I CAN'T! Ugh.
