Tapering

Posted , 6 users are following.

I'm now down to 200g of Tramadol from 400g, 4 x 50g a day. I've been dropping 50g tab weekly. But have decided to stay on 4 x 50g for maybe 2-3 weeks as I feel withdrawals increasing. I know I will have withdrawals. When I feel these, I just say, this will pass and my brain is healing! This helps me to cope. So looking fora war to the day I am free from Tramadol and the withdrawals!

    Hi Ruth.

Don't give up. Your almost there. It has been 9 months since I got clean of Tramadol. I have never felt better. When you are off it, don't expect miracles at once. It takes about 3 to 4 months for things to rewire.

I strongly suggest that you get into a support group. The extra support makes things easier. Hang in there and keep us updated.

The feelin by of having your life back is worth it.

Thanks for this, yep, the highs and lows are kicking in and there are times I want to reinstate them! But I'm not going to, as I am having windows of feeling myself again. It's patience that I have to find lol A very inpatient person lol x

Hi Ruth I know in the UK they can offer naloxone if withdrawal is a major problem. Thankfullly because I reduced so slowly I did not need it..don,t be afraid to say if withdrawal becomes unbearable there is no need to suffer.....Wishing you all the luck in the world. Can I ask do you have any plans for pain relief after no more trams, or do you feel you will manage the pain without meds..Good Luck jx

Hi Jayne, I'm hoping that by slowly tapering that I will have no call for any other meds! I'm also hoping that I will not have pain afterwards, so far, I'm not in pain, just the general achyness of the withdrawal with the gastro problems. Only time will tell and if I feel unable to cope I will reconsider, if needs be. Thank you so much for your support, much appreciated! xx
