TAR 1 month ago

i having found it enlightening to read theses various posts.  I had a ball and socket ankle joint which really did a number on my ligaments and tendons through the years. I first had a fusion mid foot and had Achilles tendon lengthened the first part of Feb. 2015. The first part of April I had the TAR.   It seems that when my foot is down, I start having a pain that feels like tightness around the ankle area. Like my foot is in a tight vice.  I also get the pins and needles sensations which can really be a annoying.  Tomorrow, I am to start walking on the new ankle. Yikes!  I am excited and apprehensive at the same time.  Look forward to pins and needles sensation to vanish.  My incision scar is ultra sedative but imagine that will just take some time.  Loyok forward to the day I can report that I am pain free.   The pain I felt pre-surgery was mostly due to ligament and tendon injury( like a nail constantly pushing against my foot) and now, well I stated that already.

Good luck with getting back onto both feet.

I had a screw put into my foot in February, the scar on my foot is still very tender, did wonder if it's because it's over bone rather than just tissue like all my other operations. I've still some numbness and pins and needles and was told it takes months for the nerves to settle down, knowing my luck they'll just get back to normal just before I have to have the screw taken out.

At my last visit my Dr. told me that the sensitivity I was feeling in one small area of incision was most likely the screw used for fusion and it could be taken out.  Woohoo.

thanks Wayne.  I am now 10 weeks out. Full weight bearing but there is pain. Use a crutch most of the time.  Have started PT and that was awful after the session.  I could not walk on my foot at all for almost 24 hrs but I have to say it did feel better as days went on. Still hopeful,  just getting impatient!
