Tattoo

Has anyone attempted to get a tattoo while on Prednizone? It's just a tiny 1" tattoo but something I've always considered. I'm currently on 5mg. Will I bruise?

It depends where the tatoo is... Will we see the picture? Just kiddingbiggrin... except about the location.. I am speculating here that arms are more prone to bruise, but if the tatoo is on the body, then it would probably be less of an issue.

I would say a bruise is the least of your problems - it is the risk of infection and delayed healing that is the main problem. If you google it you will find advice from doctors saying NOT to do so.

You will also find people who have done it and say they had no problems. But then, I have no side effects with pred - plenty of others do.  This was the subject of a discussion some time back - and the consensus was not to have it done, to wait until you are off pred.

I just had a medical tattooing as part of breast recon 6 yr. follow up. I am on 10mgm. Wished I had waited. I developed an allergy to the dye and the itching was so terrible I have to take an antihistamine; this procedure requires 3 days of antibiotics to prevent infection as well. Three days later I am still sore.

I realize your case is different. Just my experience.

I had a rather large tattoo done whilst on pred. I had no problem at all and I was 30 mgs at the time.
