okay so I had a tattoo done last week, it's now been 6 days, on the 4th day I noticed pus forming in parts of the tattoo and my arm and hand were swollen and red, I went to the doctors yesterday who suspected an infection and prescribed me oral antibitoics flucloxacilin I'm on day 2 now of taking the antibiotics (I've taken 5 of 28 prescribed antibiotics so far) the swelling and redness has improved alot already, but it seems to be weeping more pus than yesterday is this normal? to be pushing more pus out or does it mean it's getting worse? And what can I do to help get rid of the pus collecting in my tattoo? Thank you File size is too big@

Hi having tattoos can sadly cause many problems and one of them is infections some quite bad ones, did your GP take swabs to discover exactly what the infection is caused by and also you may need a blood test to rule out further problems that contaminated needles can cause, I'm not saying this is the reason your having problems having it seeping is not great and although your on antibiotics it's still causing a problem and possibly needs further testing.

Did you have your tattoo in UK at a licenced premises

When done by licensed, reputable tattoo artists in a salon setting, new tattoos usually only cause pain, redness, and swelling. As a tattoo heals, the tattoo site often becomes itchy and dry.

first off that isn't normal, I have many tattoos and none of mine has had pus, I did catch one in the sun once OMG! never again did I show off my new tattoos in the sun

1st thing other than speaking to the doctors go see the tattooist who done it.

other than that, did you keep it covered for the *1st or 2nd day with cling film

*are you/have you cleaned it with soap "plain soap" every day?

*have you kept it out of the sun? as a tattoo is after all a scare

    hope this helped

    hope it heals up soon
