TECNIS SYMFONY LENS implanted in someone in their 20s.

Hi all,

I'm trying my best to avoid any sort of paranoia as its only been 2 DAYS after a tecnis symfony lens implantation on my right eye, but I can not helped but be concerned by simply two major issues.

  1. I can not see further than 20 inches away from me. Only near vision is clear. Had a follow up appointment to test if I could read BIG words on a monitor about 5 feet away from me. I failed EVERY test.

  2. When I am looking/reading something within this near vision range, when I move my eyes, there is a jitter/wiggle that distorts my vision for a split second. My guess is that it is the lens not fully formed to the eye yet.

Am I being too impatient? Is this normal? Has anyone experienced this within their first two days?

hello, i understand your anxiety. i couldn't even see my hand in front of my face for 2 days. i had gradual clearing by 4 days, but not great vision for about 4 weeks. does it look foggy? Are you still on drops? Was your goal clear distance vision? my doc said i had corneal edema. once that cleared my vision improved. i'd call for another appt. on monday. if the cornea is swollen your vision will be distorted.

If I had fully blurry vision I would be relieved as it makes sense. But I have REALLY good somewhat near vision, but everything else is blurry. I am in my fourth day now and I don't notice any improvement, but still too early perhaps. And this constant shaking while reading or looking at anything in focus while moving my eyes, it's like I can see the lens. Is that possible?

do you know the power of the lens he implanted...they usually give you a card with that info. i was very nearsighted before my surgery -6.5 in my right eye. A good guide they used to use to calculate what power lens you need implanted was 19.0 minus your prescription. so 19-6.5 would get you to a 12.5 IOL if you were being corrected for distance. it concerns me that you are clear close but not far at 4 days out. I would insist on being seen tomorrow and ask about cornea edema. there are drops to remedy that. let us know. lots of wise folks on this page:)

    UPDATE:

The head surgeon, again a very nice and genuine person who has had little to no negative feedback in general, did an exam and found that there was no pseudophakodonesis (lens out of place), so the wobbling at this point is a mystery, which makes sense because what I'm looking at doesn't wobble as much as the edges of my lens/vision wobble, so he theorized that it was a side effect of light scattering.

We will see in 3 weeks if anything has improved.

I also get a deep somewhat dull pain when exposed to any new magnitude of light. But I assume this is normal in healing.

Worst case scenario I can wear a patch over the eye and simply not use it.
