Just finished watching the video on Vimeo that someone posted.
It is sponsered by JNJ so they might be picking the best outcome, but they had a doctor show the Defocus curve (attached) that his patient achieve and it was 20/20 from distance to 33cm and even a bit closer, which is better that JNJ's a trial outcome.
And then shows a nighttime dyphotosias image that also looks vary minor.
Anyone thinking about this lens might ask him about it. I think he is in Germany.

far vision is not very clear. I see very big halos at night, headlights of the cars seem to merge until they come closer. I am not driving for now. didn't expect this. Not very happy.

Sorry to hear about your distance vision not being good as that is the worse. I am thinking about getting the Synergy, but at this point don't have a good idea how bad the dysphotopsais are. I don't want the IOl if the dysphotoposias are going to be worse than my Tencis MF low add.
Halos vary for me depending on how dark it is and how far in the distance the light source is.
When cars are far away the headlights halos are large, but then as they get closer they shrink down. This does not bother me and the tradeoff, for me, is well worth it. But then again I am just not sure if what you are seeing is a lot worse than what I see.
The dysphotopsias I see don't stop me from driving at night. But night driving is more stressful, but more to the fact IMHO that the MF splits the light so it is just darker and the fact that I basically only see good out of the one eye.
Would you be willing to elaborate on why the dysphotopsias are stopping you from driving to get a better sense of what you are seeing.

I found this simulation of halos so I can describe what I see. Mine are not this bad. The halos on the closest car is about what I see for a car in the distance. And for the close car I would only see minor halos from the headlight. For the stop Light at a distance I see rings that are a little bigger than the stop light itself, but again as get close like in the picture the halos are minor especially for a green light.
For brake lights, again mine are not this bad. I see rings like for the stop lights. Again larger at distance and very minor close up.
I tried to find a simulator I could adjust to present a better picture of what I see.
If my night time vision was as bad as in this particluar simulation, it would be difficult to drive at night.
I found another simulator that is closer. The brake and stop sign halos are closer to what I see. The headlights up close are not as bad in the photo and at a distance are bigger than in the photo, more like the close up car in the previous photo.
Also I am not driving in a city like this at night. I am usually on the highway or side streets without skyscrapers or all those side street lamps, so that might make a difference.

The Torontonian response is detailed and quite long. It can be found in the discussion posted 10 days ago by Nivo14 entitled "Has anyone had perfect vision after Multifocal IOLs surgery."

Thank you so much for the heads up, I really appreciate this as well as soks' summary of the live feedback. I am seriously considering Tecnis Synergy as an option for my cataract surgery.
