Oh gosh!  I HATED  them!  Mine were so tight, but luckily I had a friend who had some larger sox.  I mean you've got to take the doctor's advice - they are to stop dvts.  May the bigger ted be with you!

My doctor only required them for two weeks. You only really need them if you are bed-bound, but most doctors go conservative and require them for longer. What does your surgeon recommend?

At my 2 week post op appointment, my surgeon wanted me to wear them a bit longer due to still having a bit of swelling, but then I stopped at 3 weeks. But, I only had to take aspirin, no injections, and only had to wear the TED socks during the day, not at night.

Hi, yes I remember the Ted socks well! I was allowed to take them off during the day after the first week, because my knee was swelling above them. I still had to wear them at night though, and it was August, and hot! I stopped after 4 weeks. I'm in the UK, so no injections, blood thinning meds instead (dabigatran), so a bit easier. Good luck!

Hi I only worn my reds for 2 nights after I came home from hospital. Like you. I could t sleep. I don't think they matter much as long as you are active a lot during the day and having the injections.

    Best of luck.

TED socks are a form of medical torture frown.  I was told to take them off after 6 weeks, and not a day before.

This is my third joint replacement in 18 months and I must admit it is quite amazing to see the change in behavior by the Surgeon. The OS this time wants me to take 2 chewable baby aspirin every 24 hours, for 6 weeks.I wear compression socks that I got on WISH ,that are ankle socks.I can really see the difference it makes.I also have knee socks so I alternate between the different types of pressure stockings. We have individual differences but if you are miserable look at items that are a little more flexible and meet your needs
