Teenage girl extremely tired

Hi this my first time using this site , I have been experiencing very annoying periods of just being extremely tired. From the second I wake in the warning to the time I go to bed I am very fatigued and tired. I play basketball three times a week and I am a cross country runner at my school, I am not overweight and I get around 8-7 hours of sleep per night. I also hear this weird heart beat in my ear when I'm trying to sleep or if I'm standing for too long...is there anything I can do to be less sleepy?

Have you talked to your parents about the fatigue you are experiencing. Being a teenager, this could be so many things such as hormonal changes. From my understanding, teens require more rest than adults, so could this be the problem. Either way, I would see about getting a physical by a doctor to make sure nothing is going on. Good luck and keep us posted. KPD

I'm going to the doctors in a couple of days, I'm probably just being over dramatic it's just really annoying falling asleep in class and your parents finding out 😬

Hi Toriloren,
First the good news is that younger people tend to have a full recovery, if it's CFS. I agree that talking to your parents and getting a proper diagnosis would be a good place to start.
I am an old one and have dealt with CFS since 1999. What works for me, but is difficult to do is to take managed rests/naps. Get an eyeshade & ear plugs. I rest a 11am & 2 pm, I don't like doing it but i helps. It is recommeded by the CFS self-help organization.
When resting (20 min. to 60 min) no stimuli, which includes listening to music. Just rest, try to relax, don't make it a goal to nap or sleep. Listen to your breathing and the time will fly by. I hope this helps.
Good luck,
Karin

If it seems really related to standing, it could be worth looking into 'Postural Tachycardia Syndrome?'. This is realted to CFS, and relatively common in teenagers. As someone else said, prognosis for natural improvement is pretty good for people in your situation, so hopefully things will improve for you soon.
