Teenager, recently developed acid reflux

TL;DR:

- Got Acid Reflux this past week after eating a lot on vacation

- Food Regurgitation

- Mild Nausea after eating almost anything

- Prescribed Zantac and Mylanta, taking all countermeasures possible

Any tips on coping? Can I get rid of it?

Longer Exposition:

I've had baby burps for a couple months and some of my food would come back up. It would happen more often when I ate chocolate or ice cream. I didn't think it was a big deal.

This last week I was on vacation I ate a lot. I went to a buffet this past Sunday and tried to get my money's worth so, ended up eating too much. I was really stuffed and had some food regurgitation. Some of it was really acidic.

I woke up the next day and did not feel hungry (I normally would be) but, we were staying at a friend's house and the host was insistent I eat. I did and only felt worse. They used a lot of spices and oil in their foods so, I didn't fare well. I walked a lot this day and had coffee (bad idea). My mom also took me to get some medicine that might help. When we told the pharmacist, she said I probably had acid reflux. She recommended Zantac. I took the Zantac and it helped some but, I still had light nausea.

I took Zantac for the next 5-6 days. Sometimes I took it 2 times a day and other times only before dinner.

I got back home yesterday and I was fine the entire day without medicine. I avoided any triggers I read about online. Then relatively late at night, I was hungry so, I had some bread with milk. I was okay for about 20-30 minutes but, then I had heartburn. I wasn't planning on going to sleep for a while and was sitting in a chair to remain upright. I was up for about an hour while the rest of the house was asleep hoping it would stop. I caved eventually and woke up my mom. She gave me a Zantac and it subsided for the most part. My stomach still felt weird.

Today, I went to my doctor and she prescribed Zantac (one a day) and she told me to buy Mylanta. I only took some Mylanta today.

If you have any tips or suggestions please let me know. Thanks smile

It sounds like milk is a common factor. Try eliminating all milk from your diet.

Stay on top of it, be careful with medications as this could make it worse. Eat small amounts of food, you've probably been advised about diet, no caffeine and no fizzy drinks. Good luck
