Ten weeks post opp for four broken toes following a silly fall

Posted , 3 users are following.

I had pins fitted in all four toes during surgery ten wks ago. I was in a full hard cast for 6+ wks. Had cast and pins removed and wear a boot to aid weight bearing. My question is why my foot is soooo swollen when I walk at all  . It s also a really bad dark colour. Colour returns to normal and so does swelling overnight but then it starts again nx day. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if it's cause of concern? Love reading this page. Sometimes thought I'd never even get this far so I'm not complaining I'm just scared something is horribly wrong

Is your foot telling you when it’s down it needs more rest

I am 5 weeks in from ankle surgery no wheight bearing

When it’s down and I am moving on crutches

    It swells and turns color

But when rested for an hour calms down

Maybe more rest if you can

    Check with your doctor though

    To be on safe side

    Good pluck

Normal. My physical therapist told md my ankle would swell from time to time for possibly a year or more. I agree Rest and elevate whenever you aren't walking. I had ORIF on 3/13. I can be pretty comfy with my leg down, but the cost is angry red/brown and swollen. I have noticed it does swell less than early on, but it still swells.
