Ten weeks post Tkr

I'm ten weeks post TKR.
125 % bend, perfect straight.
I still have a lot of burning pain and swelling, I feel like there's a tight band around my knee, it gives way hyper extends quite often, I'm still using crutches, I'm very scared I might fall.
I can't get comfortable at night the pain is so bad. Should I go back to Hospital, or is this quite normal.

Sounds quite normal. If I was concerned I'd see my medico. An x-ray or scan might show any abnormalities. Pain medication is a necessity for you have discomfort. We should not have to suffer but we seem to. Insist on some resolution, hut know and understand our leg (s) were disconnected from our bodies except by some skin and a few tendons and ligaments. That is going to hurt for a while. x

I was in pain for about 12 wks. Not sure what 125% bend is since 100% is straight and the goal for most.
I had that feeling of a band around my knee for a long time. It eventually went away with home exercises and PT.
Anytime you feel something is not right call the doctors office and if needed go to a doctor.

Welcome to TKR World where every day is a new adventure. Click on my picture and then "See All Discussions". Lots out there addressing all of this. Start with the "...Kidney Stone" one.

You are doing just fine!
At three months post op I realised I did not need a stick anymore! Both legs were nice and strong...indeed, the operated one was bionic and stronger than the unoperated one! Still a bit achey walking and standing for longer than an hour, but easy enough to ignore type of pain. At four months post op I was whizzing around in a way I had not been able to do for two years. Have mild pain sometimes but also have a life not limited in mobility restrictions, so that is great. Process of healing takes up to two years they say. One year mark seems to be when most of the recovery is done for many people.
Take a look at my profile and skim through my blog if it helps. The page was written to convey the need for patience, something our cultures in the western world are not really geared up to! You can locate it in the menu at the right hand side of the blog.

The burning pain and the swelling is quite normal. Are you seeing a physio? Part of the recovery is to strengthen up your quads. With one TKR 18 months ago and one 3 months ago, I want to let you know that you actually need to watch the surfaces that you're walking on so that you don't fall. Keep quite vigilant about that, it's part of learning to walk again. Things will feel quite different for you now, but it will improve. Just be sure that you're seeing a physio.

Yep, normal. If you're worry, call you PA. I know I've been there. I'm now at 16 weeks and still have that awful feeling off and on. I'm at 122 bend 0 extension. I did asked my PA during 12 weeks, she said,to take anti inflammatory meds like OTC, or pain meds, and it's all normal, also ice it.. She also said take a day break from excerises and don't overdo yourself. Now I'm doing good! Good luck!

Hi Mona, what's a PA? Interested because we have different acronyms all over the world and this one has me stumped

PA stands for physician assistant, your surgeon's assistant who takes his place in taken care of his patients. They can do prescriptions just like Dr would do.
