tender breasts but not pregnant?

For the last 2 months my breasts have been very tender and painful, people have noticed they look fuller and i'm growing out of my normal bra size. I've also lost weight so i know it's not due to weight gain.... It can't be pregnancy because i've been having my periods... Can anyone help me because the doctors are not taking me seriously???

bethany1993 Sorry they havent taken you seriously! Have you gone back to your docs?

I have experienced the same thing since the end of October. I thought the doc would offer a blood test at least. But all i've been advised is to take evening primrose oil tablets. Going to give it 2 weeks and see if that makes a difference!

I am 68 now but quite a few years ago I suffered from VERY painful breasts that probably coincided with my periods although I had only one ovary and had had a hysterectomy some years before so I didn't actually bleed but still got the symptoms. They were so sore that I couldn't bear to take my bra off at night and just holding my arms by my sides was painful. Anyway, I also had lumpy breasts and was sent to see a hospital specialist who recommended Evening Primrose Oil capsules and told me to take them for four months, to flood my body with the active ingredient which is GLA,( gamma linolenic acid) You have to take a specific amount so he told me to get some capsules and the important ingredient was the GLA not Evening Primrose Oil. The amount to take is 240mg of GLA a day and I did this by buying capsules that had 80mg in each one and taking three a day. He said that not enough GLA wouln't do any good and too much would be a waste. I took them for the four months and it was miraculous, the pain disappeared the lumpyness went and I have never had the pain come back since.

Could I just ask where you managed to find the high dosage?

Thanks Spindles for this info. Very informative! But did it really take 4 months for you to get any relief?? I don't think I can last that long! Lol I am 53 years old... I haven't had a period since 2008 due to the fact that after my daughter was born I had the Assure discs inserted in my tubes and they were carterized. ( don't think that's spelled right!😳) anyway...this was done because my periods have always been SO HEAVY! So flash forward... About 3 weeks ago my breasts became so tender and sore... they even feel swollen at times. It is constant! I'm a teacher and it hurts when the students hug me! Could this be menopause????? HELP!!!

As I said, it was some years ago that I took the EPO capsules and I remember buying them from a supermarket  They were One a Day but you could take up to three a day.  I have just looked for some online by putting evening primrose oil gla 80mg and several websites come up with that dosage so there shouldn't be any problem buying any if you can't find them in the local shops.

I have the same question.  I'm 22 and I'm on the implanon. Here lately my breast has been hurting. Thought it was my bra being to tight but it was loose. Now it hurts to lay on my back. In order for them to stop hurting I have to hold them. I know the doctor has told me before it's the caffeine but when u don't drink caffeine at all then what is it suppose to be..

Also the doctor said if I take vitamin E it would help..

Please help. My boyfriend can't even touch them because they hurt..

PLEASE consider my previous message when I suggested Evening Primrose Oil capsules as I had miraculous results and have heard of many other women who have had the same.  I suppose you know that breast pain is one of the side effects of implanon so could it be caused by that?  If you did decide to take the capsules it's the GLA thats important, 240mg a day, it really is worth trying it.

Thank you for you answer. I just turned 47 and I too just started noticing my breasts were fuller and my nipples were sore and they also feel a little lumpy, so my first reaction was OMG..breast cancer which it what prompted me to Google it. So glad I saw your response because now I feel better. I just need to find those capsules. The upside is I have lost weight without having to do anything...lol. Did you also have unexplained weight gain before you had the weight loss? BTW...I had a hysterectomy about 4 years ago so I know for sure there is no pregnancy here.

I would think your problem is hormonal rather than breast cancer but you did mention weight loss without even trying so maybe you should get checked out and perhaps the doctor could reassure you.  I didn't lose or gain any weight.  Have you tried the herbal stores for the capasules?

I stopped drinking milk and extremely limited cheeses.  the pain went away.  drank milk again and it came back.  stopped the milk again and pain went away.  worked for me.

I have had sore breasts for about two or three weeks now. I notice the pain one day before I had a cold. Since then I also quit drinking milk. Now I am not sure what has caused this. I am 57 years old and had a complete hysterectomy 15 years ago. Figured I was more than done with my menopause. I have a reg mammogram in dec so am sure all is well there.

My left Breast was tender and painful for a good few weeks. I could not even wear a bra nor sleep on the left side. Turned out it was down to the

Most unusual reason: silent reflux. I've been on lansoprazole prescribed by my GP, for last two weeks to control this and the pain has thankfully gone.

I had a woman tell me it helped her to stop eating any meat with hormones in it.  I did and it made a difference.  I'm wondering if that is why the people stopping milk and cheese have had success.  Now as I finally start to get off schedule with my periods because I'm 54, I am having extreme breast tenderness for the last 20 days even though I had a period.
