Hi everyone,
I am a 21 year old woman who has been suffering from urge to pee sensation coming from the vulva for over a year. If I touch the urethral meatus and the tissue underneath, i have extreme tenderness and further sensitivity. I sometimes get pain but mainly just sensitive tenderness, sometimes itching, sometimes the sensation goes up to my cliterous. It gets worse after i pee, no burning when i pee but after it just feels more achy and more tender. It gets bad a day after an orgasm and the symptoms can stay bad for sometimes as long as 2 weeks.
ive had an MRI, cystoscopy, ultrasound of the pelvis and bladder and kidney, transvaginal ultra sound. All tests came back normal.
Could this be pelvic floor dysfunction? Ive had what i thought were UTIS in the build up to my chronic symptoms however the symptoms only presented in urge to pee... rather than typical UTI symptoms e.g. burning. They could have been fake/ phantom UTIS.
Any ideas?
Thankyou

this does sound like hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction or non-relaxing pelvis.... also known as high tone pelvic floor dysfunction. I had similar symptoms...it took months for me to get a referral to a pelvic floor physical therapist. she worked with me for about 3 months and my pain completely went away...it flares up from time to time but now I know how to control it and make myself feel better pretty quickly. I'm sorry you've been going through this for so long. I want you to know that you're not alone. this is frequently misdiagnosed or missed altogether. in my case I went to a urologist who was very familiar with the condition and referred me to the physical therapist. if I were you I would ask my gynecologist for a referral to physical therapy for pelvic floor dysfunction.

Thanks!
I have an appointment tomorrow with a pelvic pain specialist at my hospital, I am going to ask her to refer me to a pelvic floor physio therapist. I was concerned about my symptoms not relating to pelvic floor dysfunction because they're more further up the vulva, around the urethra etc rather than near the bottom of the vulva.

I'm glad you have an appointment scheduled. my symptoms were always more in my urethra. I described it as a feeling of a ball of fire traveling up and down 24/7. i also had a lot of clitoral pain and pressure too. pelvic floor dysfunction can affect any part of your pelvis. dont forget to check back in for support. i also made video diaries for myself so i could look back and see my journey and my progress
