Tendon Rupture can be a delayed adverse reaction to a Fluoroquinolone Antibiotic.

If you have ruptured a tendon, particularly a large one ie., Rotator Cuff or Achilles and you aren't sure why, then consider whether or not you have taken an antibiotic in the Fluoroquinolone/Quinolone group, in the previous year. If so, then please refer to discussions on Ciprofloxacin or Levofloxacin or Fluoroquinolones, as you may be suffering a delayed adverse reaction. This can happen long after you have stopped taking these antibiotics - there are others in this class too.

I had a really bad reaction to CEPRO. if fact I almost have a reaction to most antibiotics on the market. If I ever get a infection again I will need to go to the hospital for a IV type antibiotics treatment, no pill form available at this time I can take safely.

The reason I am so resistant is that for years had to take them for dental treatment due to THR to avoid blood infections. This susceptibility to reactions to antibiotics also makes me vulnerable to the one thing I fear the most ..a blood infection.

      Hi Hope4cure

I take it you mean 'Cipro'? What kind of reaction did you have and how are you now?

It it is difficult when you struggle to find an antibiotic that you can take safely....if there is such a one! If you react to a Fluoroquinolone in pill form, then taking it in IV will not stop it having an adverse effect though.

      Yes we have to hope.

My throst swelled up... Extreem palpitations nautious, vomiting and hives..

I had taken them before & did just fine cleared up my infection. The second time this allergic response was the result of antibodies built up in my body from taking the meds the first time. My body recognized it as an invader and responded. My auto immune system is over active in my case.
