Hello everyone. i have a couple questions. those of you who went to Dr Ross, it sounded like you got the legthening surgery, but later in the thread someone mentions he doesn't do it. You all sound happy with the results. My second opinion wants to do the arthoscopic full release. Says its his favorite surgery to do because the results are immediate, and i'll be walking in a couple days. he said possibility of weakness long term, but hes had very few cases of less than 80% strength, and it was due to other factors. I am almost 40. I had my Anterior THA 4 months ago, and felt the Psoas pain immediately after surgery, but everyone wrote it off. I was walking on my own at 2.5 weeks and it all went to hell about 5 weeks. I don't understand how removing a tendon WON'T cause your body to have to compensate in other areas???

I live in Indianapolis, does anyone know of a surgeon who does the Partial somewhat nearby? Willing to drive to Chicago, St. Louis, Ohio, Michigan etc...

have to find surgeon who does these surgeries....ross, etc..had psoas release a year ago cut in central compartment ( HSS) ...wasn't enough to stop my groin pain..but it did relieve all other problems ...getting in cars, pain getting up etc...now need another tenotomy at lesser trocanter where they will cut the whole tendon so it will give me much more loosening...no weakness from cut in central compartment (lengthening, fractional release..all the same) ..but no relieve of groin pain...most aggressive is full release of tendon from lesser trocanter...just hope i dont end up with too much weakness in right leg...first release I had weakness one day next day normal...

Hello I am a 51 year non atheletic female .

I have had a previous foot fracture and i developed groin pain on researching we thought it was sports hernia but after 2 years of multiple doctors i was diagnosed with a labral tear and arthoscopy in 2011 helped me about 30% slowly over time i could manage my daily activities and that sufficed could never swim or walk long distance but was still happy with my results until my groin / hip flared up in 2019 we presumed it was from underlying OA and underwent posterior THA and have much more severe anterior groin pain particularly with sitting have trouble with all activities like even simple meal prep and prolonged sitting for work back to pre arthroscopy .

My prosthesis is good on imaging etc. one doctor suggested iliopsoas release based in clinical diagnosis and history and another maybe emperic core muscle injury repair .

Has anyone had ILIOPSOAS release or repair and experience and by who please ?

    thanks in advance

I know this conversation isn't recent so I'm not sure if I'll even get a response but my Dr. said I need a iliposaos tendon release. I am 2 years out from a labrum tear and full anterior hip replacement. I had this same pain before my hip replacement as I'm having now but I cannot walk , drive and hardly take care of myself as the pain has debilitated me where I feel like I'm dying it's so severe. Got a MRI this morning and I could harldly point my toes inward due to my groin inner thigh and upper thigh pain. I am wondering if you had it done and if your symptoms were similar to the others talking. I live in San Diego where Traci lives and will try to reach out to her as you did but any input of information would be helpful being your conversation was long ago as you would have a report of the outcome of this surgery. I'm worried about the stability of the leg as it's been 3 1/2 years since pain began and I haven't been able to build any muscle due to ongoing pain and surgery. Would appreciate any input. Thanks
