tens machine

I followed the instructions supplied in machine and put electrodes on shoulders either side of neck as shown in diagram and on lowest setting I experienced an immediate cramping and violent contraction of the neck muscles which was most scary and led to increased pain and headache. This machine was supplied by lloyds pharmacy but iI believe that the instructions are inadequate and the machine should not be on sale over the counter but only through a medical practioneer who can supervise proper use.

I have grade 4 (highest) OA in my knee.

Including a prosthesi insert to repace worn out joint.

I get days where it will really hurt - sharp apin or long dull ache - quick session on TENS clears the issue.

I alsi sometimes get soft tissue swelling at back of joint ........ so far not found TENS helps on reducing swelling,

If I apply my TENS machine to my kneck .......... normally as you increase level its slows ramps up form tingle to as much pain as you want.

However when electrode pads are on neck - it goes form barely tingling at low setting and as I increnet it gives an immediate jump to 'jerking' of shoulders .... so this seesm to be normal on neck area.

i have had my atens unit for 25 yrs, i used to wear it all day at work, on my neck if you use it slowly bringing up the level ut not till it causes bad twitching, it will help, but as my neck has gotton worse over the yrs, i really don't use it much, i can't wear it at work any longer because of my type of work has changed, it really only works on the muscles to loosen them up and stenghten them over months of use. It really wont do any good for just one time, it does take some getting used to, and the muscles and skin will be sore the next day. more so if you have it on too high of a setting. mine is a old unit, so it is all manual settings, i have set it too high quite a few times, and learned what my level is. i may help you but start slow.
