I have that same pain and I'm 6 weeks 3 days post op! Mine started about a week ago. It's on my left side and also lower left bottom of my back. If that makes sense. I also feel the same pain on my right side! I googled it and supposedly it's normal so.... yeah 😊

Hi I have the same thing and I'm also 6 weeks post op. Have walked around holding my side all day today and have just put myself to bed! I was doing well last week and had a few hours of feeling energetic but now feel like I've over done things. Am also trying to cut down my medicines so wondered if they have been masking any pain? Assumed it was part of the internal healing process. I saw my consultant last week and she's reinforced the no lifting and take it easy message for up to 6 months!! I wish I'd had this pain before I saw her I could have asked for advice.

Hello, I hope you don't mind me asking but I'm due to have a total hysterectomy next yr.

Did you stay in hospital long? and how do they do a total hysterectomy these days? Is it vaginally or key hole?

Also what's the recovery time like?

I really hope your free of pain soon.

    Best wishes

Hi Vicky it will depend on the reason for the op which method they use. I had a prolapse of the uterus so had a vaginal hysterectomy in May. I was told recovery would be 6 weeks but mine was more like 12 weeks. You will be in hospital 1 or 2 nights depending how you are and if you can do 3 wee's. Make sure you have help at home you must not do anything at all and especially no lifting only put enough water in kettle for one cup for 6 weeks just short walks each day. Good luck xx

Hi Vicky.. I had mine done vaginally and had 5 little holes incursions. I was told I would stay one night in hospital but ended up 8 nights but that was because my bladder was nicked.. But the hysterectomy was ok.. I have had a good recovery yes a bit of pain but not like I thought I was sure it was going to really hurt but no it hadn't been bad.. But I haven't done anything so remember NO lifting at all relax go for little walks.. If you listen and do what you are told you will have no problem. I have had this side pain but it is getting better I go for my 6 week check up today. GOOD LUCK with your hysterectomy

Hi Vicky just so we don't confuse you ha ha there are 3 methods of hysterectomy.

Key hole -  is what tish is talking about 5 incisions in your abdoman or belly then everything is removed through your vagina.

Vaginally - no cuts everything done through vagina this is what I had.

Abdomonal - cut across your abdoman either horizontal or diagnally.

Hope this helps. Ask your consultant on your next visit xx
