Terrible soreness in genital area

years ago i was diagnosed with vulva lichen planus. i thought i was cured by applying steroid cream. since then the area around there is sore and red and although I have a prolapse this soreness is making my life a misery. I have tried various ointments and cream as advised by various gynacologists including the steroid cream but without any ease. i am on the list for surgery to repair prolapse but in truth I do not think that will cure the problem. I think it may be a dermatology problem. I am able to get a private consult with a dermatologist and wonder if anyone has had the same condition and if so what measures did they take. I would so appreciate any feedback.

    hi,

im sorry to hear youre in pain! lichen is one thing on my list of things i think i may have. finally getting into gyno and dermatologist in two weeks, so im hoping for some answers. if you dont mind me asking, how did your condition start? I ended up getting a red rash, basically just red skin really. but inside my lips was red dots. No lesions or bumps, but just red spots everywhere. also, one lip was swollen and i was so irritated down there.

My LP was around 12 years ago. I had lots of white patches in that area and the doctor diagnosed LP while the derm called it Lichen Sclerosis. Anyway that got treated and Iam told its something that is in your system. My prolapse caused me to go to a Gyni who said he recommended i get the prolapse fixed which will happen later this year. but as I said this soreness and dreadful redness I dont think has anything to do with the prolapse. Mine is a long long story of many Gynacologists and I am despairing of ever being comfortable down below as I have put so much steroid cream there that the skin must be so very thin. Added to that I am old and it makes matters worse. Do let me know how you get on.
