Terrified causing torn decision.

Ok so I have had problems with my ears since I was little (I'm 27 now) I've had one surgery done last year and still need another 3. Now my problem being when I woke up after surgery last time I heard a nurse say to a student 'we've had a bit of trouble with laura, she stopped breathing during surgery for a little while but they managed to stabilise her breathing' THIS HAS TERRIFIED ME. I mentioned it to a nurse later on who told me it could have been the drugs they gave me making me hallucinate because their was nothing in my notes. But now I have to have surgery three more times at least and I'm terrified. To the point I've put it off 3 times now, even though I know the problems causing me further damage. I've been diagnosed with health anxiety since and genuinely don't know what to do. It's getting to the point I'm thinking would I rather die than be put to sleep again! I can't live like this, anyone help or have advice?

During surgery and in the recovery room you are monitored very closely, both by machines and health care providers.  Narcotics are commonly given intraoperatively and can cause a patient's breathing to slow or stop.  When that occurs, the health provider manages the patient's airway with an AMBU bag until the patient resumes breathing on their own. There are medications that can counteract the narcotics, but usually they are not needed.  Try not to worry.  Your health care providers are always by your side to keep you safe.
