Have a UTI at the moment, just hoping this 3rd lot of antibiotics will kick in, I am so scared I will be told to have a cystoscopy as I have heard it is so painful, anyone any experiences with this?   Had urinalysis done which came back as normal..

    Hi,

I recently had a cystoscopy and it was fine. I was put under a general and didn't feel a thing. Woke up a bit drosey but that's it. Going to the loo for the first time afterwards stung a little but nowhere near as bad as I thought it would.

If you need one just get it done, at least that way you might get some answers.

    Good luck!

Last year, I had a cystoscopy because of UTIs with blood in the urine.  I didn't have any form of anaesthetic or sedation and the consultant simply used a numbing gel on the end of the instrument.  I asked him for this.

A barely noticeable 'ouch' moment as he entered the bladder, then I felt nothing. (It's important to relax as much as you can)  I was able to watch him scanning the bladder and could see that everything was clear.  In all, it took about three minutes.  So, please don't be scared about it if you need to have one.  I was worried about it before I had it done, now I wouldn't be bothered at all!

    Best wishes.

    Hi Valerie

go easy with the antibiotics .... I had an ongoing  uti and had numerous antibiotics and never got rid of it...

I had a flexible cystoscope and a rigid cystoscope where they did a. Biopsy

Its uncomfortable but you will be given pain killers and it will help find out more about the problem.

meanwhile, drink plenty of water and keep us updated
