Terrified of colonoscopy

I've been sentenced to a colonoscopy in a month as punishment for living to be too old. I'm absolutely terrified and embarrassed. I don't want anyone to find out about this, but my doctor already said my privacy should be of no concern to me. How can I keep anyone from recognizing me in the hospital or knowing what's been done to me?

How do I deal with the awful prep, the extreme dieting, and the hunger pains? How do I make sure I don't have an "accident" enroute to or at the hospital? I'm absolutely beyond terrified. This has completely destroyed my life. My life is a living hell from which there's no escape. Help!!!
