Terrified of hip replacement surgery

Is there
anyone out there that has very severe oa in their hip. I guess I'm afraid I will run into complications during surgery because of the severity.

I was first told I had OA in both hips and should think about hip replacement surgery in 2014. Then I had an occasional limp and pain on my right hip. I was so sure that I could beat this myself - more exercise, take up yoga, special stretching exercises, diet changes . . . I would not need surgery. I let my life, comfort and mobility get smaller and smaller until I realized I now had very severe degenerative OA in both hips with no sign of leveling off. I had the right hip replaced late April this year and just had the left one done 11 days ago. Best decisions I ever made - probably 18 months late due to my fear, yes, but now everything is looking up. Haven't been without a walker or 2 canes and a lot of pain in all of 2016 - but in the next weeks those legs will be walking with no or very little pain on their own.

I had severe oa as well and was terrified about the op. I am 5 months post thr and doing well. Don't worry about the op it was fine. I had an epidural with sedation as well another thing I was worrying about, but it was fine and once back in by bed I was sat up eating chocolate with a nice cup of tea.

Sorry pressed that to quickly ñ. As l was saying l was terrified too my doctorc said it was the most nasty case of OA ha had seen in a long time. I could not beleive it. How had this happened. I was not overweight l lived a fairly normal life l have a full time job l drove about me and my husband were keen walkers we would walk 7 miles everynight. And then suddenly at 42 l.needed 2 new hips. Well l have had both hips replaced and its the best thing l could have had done. My last thr wad in feb 8 weeks after thev1st. My recovery had its ups and downs l would have a good week and think thats me but suddenly l would get some back pain and my knees started getting bad knee pain l had a feeling there was something wrong so l went and had xrays and my hips rekwere totally fine but my knees had OA and both needed replaced. Well i am 6 days post op from.my 1sr knee replacement and l would rather have hip replacements any day. You will be fine if l can do 2 and then get the knee dine done which was much much harder and sorer than the hip by far. Please realise it will.take the pain of OA away altogether. And if its just hips or not the knee you are lucky I have just been through what l.thought was the painful operation ever. And l an just at the start of my temmmmmmmm
