Terrified of this back pain and nausea

Hi

I've suffered reflux for almost two years, can any one else tell me if they suffer really bad pain between shoulder blades, I have it really bad at the moment together with unbearable nausea I'm absolutely terrified I have something worse than reflux, I had bloods, ultrasound and stool test done recently, all came back clear, it's a year since my last endoscopy and Ct Scan. I hope and pray it's reflux eve though it is so painful. Hope to hear back from someone with similar pain. Tks

    Hi Kate

I have various aches and pains which apparently are due to Reflux, sometimes these are worse than the reflux itself,

just wish we could all start to feel better.

    All the best

      Hi Robin

When you say you gave pains and aches, do you get them in different parts of your body or just where the reflux is?

      Hi Kate

Aches and Pains are not only where the reflux is, they can be anywhere from lower back, neck, chest in fact most days I have bad joint pains in knees, hands and elbows, whether this is related or not I am not sure but from what I understanf reflux affects the immune system so I expect that somehow this all relates to reflux. I have been reading just recently that another possible cause is actually Low Acid as this appears to give the same symptoms as too much acid. Quite how to determine which we have I am at a loss. I shall keep researching.

      All the best to you

Hi Rob...the gastroenterologist told me that GORD (GERD) can also be caused by sjogrens syndrome (SS) ..since I have been on plaquenil (for SS ) my joint problems have lessened considerably. (I was taken off ppi and other GORD drugs after 3 months usage as an endoscopy showed my Barretts was minimal (and no hiatus hernia found).

Perhaps you need to see a rheumatologist and get tested for auto immune 'diseases'

    Hi Kate

More of a sharp throbbing rather than burning feeling. Also lower back and neck pain.

As you say wish there was a cure although after 2 years I have either got used to it or there is some improvement. I am on a daily low doseage ppi and try and keep to a reasonably healthy diet but it is not fun.

      Hi Robin.

Tks for your reply, it's nice to talk to someone who knows what this awful disease is really like, I hope we both feel better soon, although right now I feel I will never get better, BTW have you ever considered surgery

      Hi Kate

I would have to be a lot worse than I am to consider surgery as I have read too many negative comments on having this done. Maybe I am not as bad as I sometimes think I am.

      Hi Robin,

I would be very scared of the surgery too, but sometimes I think wouldn't it feel great to be well again.

Anyway hope you get to feel better soon.

Tks for the chat and take care

      Kate
