Test Results on June,2

My visit to my Urologist for test results was a big disappointment!

I signed a consent form for my biopsy remains be sent to Prolaris for Genetic testing. To determine the aggressive -- non aggressive of my Pc.

My urologist and his staff let me down. They were not sent in. Just an incompetent mistake. To say the least, I was not happy. He was also unhappy, because he was let down. Now my tissue is on it's way to Mirad laboratories.

They results of my MRI showed that cancer had not left the prostate.

Impression: I do not have abnormal decreased signal in their peripheral zone on the left with abnormal washout kinetics and abnormal diffusion. This area will be labeled #1 and is PIRADS 4.

Comments welcomed.

Roger2. My understand that #1 and PIRADS 4 are the interpretation from the MRI slide. Do you have score from the test or they forgot to send as you stated?

      Viet,

Your understanding probably corrrct. I had a score of 4 from the MRI. That score just validates the score I had from my Biopsy. Which was A 4+3 and 3+3.

The Prolaris score, I haven't received yet. The test was just sent to lab. Yesterday. It was supposed to be sent a month and a half ago. Due to the incompetence of my Urologist and their staff, they failed to send it.

Time to get a new Dr.? There are many so why not find another one now! I don't understand why so many men are reluctant to fire a Dr when they don't do what they are suppose to do?

melly, agree patient has the right to choose or switch doctor & allowed by insurance, but sometime they just couldn't easily make that happens.

I intend to go further than just to change Doctor. I am p*ssed off that my Urologist and his staff was incompetent. You don't need to tell me to seek another Doctor. However, I understand you were speaking in generalities. Not just directed to Me

I was definitely speaking in general.  I couldn't get my husband to change doctors when his urologist decided to give him a 6 month hormone shot when we'd discussed and agreed on a 3 month shot to start out with. We ended up in the emergency ward a week later.  I am still furious with the doctor and have let them both know it.  This is already stressful enough and life changing.  Cancer is a big enough curve ball without doctor throwing us more.  Good luck with your new Doc!! and your treatments!

    Roger2,

Yes, I spoke in general that covers everyone including me. It's easy to say but sometime hard to do. Hope it works out for you.

I'm sorry you are having this issue. right now is not the time for you receive anyhting less then the most professional and compassionate care. Seek a new urologist before you go too far down a path withthis one. Best of luck. You will succeed.

Finally I now have both of my tests that I have been waiting on.

PROLARIS: BIOPSY TEST RESULT: SCORE: (2.6)

I am in the less agressive range. Meaning there is only 7% of people with a lesser score than I.

Risk of Mortality rate -  10 year specfic Mortality risk - 3%.

MRI: Impression: I have abnormal decreased signal in the Peripheral zone on the left with abnormal washout kinetics and abnormal difiusion, This area will be labeled #1 and is PIRADS 4

Active surveillance will be my treatment. I am 75 years old and this will work for me.

Roger2D. Well, that's a good news for you at least. I recently had a biopsy, but mentioned on the gleason score except it said "suspiciuos" in one area. Do biopsy tell the gleason scrore if PaC is detected or the biopsy specimen has to be sent to Prolaris for the gleason score finding? Thanks.

If PAc is detected in a biopsy, a gleason score will be given. Your health provider will send your pathology remains from the biopsy to Prolaris. Prolaris does not give a gleason score. They have a range to determine if the cancer is aggresive or non aggressive. The score will determine which. The test at Prolaris is genetic.  Prolaris is entirely different than biopsy and gleason scores. Their tests determin how aggresive or non agressive your cancer is .They also give a 10 year specfic mortality rate.

Roger2D. Thanks. I thought the glesaon score tells if it is aggressive or non aggressive. I guess I am wrong there.
