Tested positive for both, really sad, please reply

sadly I tested positive for hsv 1 - 37.90 & hsv 2 - 1.49. I took the igg test as well. Only blood since there was no sore to swab. I took the test because I had some anal itching and recently had a STD Panel done with everything negative & was treated for a yeast infection. The itching didn't make sense (i have good hygiene) so I got tested for peace of mind to rule it out. Never had a cold sore or outbreak. Really sad, ended things with my partner (we were not intimate yet and i'm too embarrassed to tell her I have it). The hsv 2 units are so low, would it be worth it to retest in a few months? Its just over the mark of negative (0.90 or less is negative, up to 1.1 is considered negative as well), I was searching online and saw anything under 3.50 could be considered a false positive... or do I really have both types and just have to deal with it 😦

Sometimes high positives for hsv 1 antibodies can cause a false positive for hsv 2, so it is certainly possible that the hsv 2 is a false positive. And there is no way to know if the hsv 1 antibodies are from an oral or genital infection unless you eventually have an outbreak, so it could very well be oral hsv 1.

im sorry... i know hearing that news could not have been easy. I appreciate you sharing your news with us. let me tell you a little bit about my story I went through the same thing you went through and I felt devastated at first. As I begin to love myself I realize hearing this bad news didn’t mean that I am, irresponsible or nasty or not going to be loved. It meant that anyone who is willing to be in my life now despite me telling them i have HSV is worth it. BECAUSE they will see passed what i have and love me anyway. Besides dont stress.... stress is not HSV's friend. I hope when you get tested again you dont have it but if you do... you have two choices live happy despite or be miserable and still have it.

I am going through a similar situation right now. I just got genital herpes through my boyfriend's coldsore. I know the shame and embarrassment you might be feeling, but this is only dud to the social stigma. Herpes is very common and you can still live a very happy life and manage you HSV.
