Testicles pain related to Hernia?

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi Guys,

Can I ask for advice,

I had abdominal scan recently and I was told that I have Hernia,I don't know what kind as I haven't see my GP yet,but I guess is Inguinal as it is in the groin on the right hand side about 1 inch from the penis almost to the tigh.

I have mild pain there and also on the left hand side on the exactly same opposite location.

But in the last 2 weeks I experienced pain in the testicles.most of the times is not that sharp but feels like a lot of discomfort. The pain in both Hernia location and testicles is getting sharper when I had drunk alcohol the night before.

Does anyone has the same experience with pain in the trsticles ?

Also I bought hernia support belt, but it causes me a pain after wearing it 4-5 hours.

On Friday I'm going to see my GP but freaking out especially for the testicles pain.

Yes - very much so. I have an inguinal hernia and more recently it has become associated with pain in the testicles - quite frequently. I find that lying down and even sleeping for 20 mins or so usually does the trick. Not always convenient or possible of course!

Of course pain in the testicles can be caused by other things too, so you are quite right to get it checked out by the GP.

The hernia support belt I have advises that you should not wear it if the hernia has descended into the scrotum. I asked my GP to check and he said mine hadn't - even though it is causing pain there. So I can still use the belt. But might be worth asking your GP about that too.

      Hi Ulfgar,

      Thank you for your replay,

Do you experience pain in the abdominal other than the area where the inguinal hernia is ?

      Thanks

      Hi Ulfgar,

      Thank you for your replay,

Do you experience pain in the abdominal other than the area where the inguinal hernia is ? For how long have you were the belt,I only were it 4-5 days for about 5 hours a day and it felt really uncomfortable and even feel a bit extra pain on the areas where the pads of the belt support.

      Thanks

I wouldn't wear the belt if it is causing discomfort - that's not the idea! It won't heal the hernia so the only advantage is if it enables you to do things you wouldn't otherwise be able to do, and makes it less uncomfortable.

I do get pain elsewhere in the abdomen, yes. Sometimes also diarrhoea or nausea - though thankfully not that often.

I cannot comment on the type of hernia that you have, since I had a hiatal hernia.  Hopefully, if you must go through surgery, yours will be easier than mine was.   It took 5-1/2 hours and 2 surgeons to complete mine, and I am still recovering from it.  Was told that it could take 5 or 6 months for me to feel like myself again.    I am getting depressed with how slow my recovery has been.

      Sorry to hear that,

      Hopefully you will recover sooner.

      Good luck

From personal life experience I would say do not have mesh have a pure tissue repair, do some research on mesh before allowing it to be used in your hernia repair.I would never choose to have mesh used in my hernia repairs...

I just had an inguinal/abdominal hernia repaired last week and I did have some pain in the testicular area before the repair, but a lot of time it was discomfort, almost like a balloon was being inflated in my groin.
