Testing feelings

Posted , 3 users are following.

one of the problems with depression, anxiety, panic etc. is

you keep checking how you feeling . is the meds working etc.

Try and break this cycle, pull your mind back to what your doing or your saying or listening to conversation.

when you feel your mind wondering off, pull it back to the now, the cycle will break, keep busy, not rushing around doing choires but a hobby

I know its hard but dont give in.

All of you out there are stronger than you think, we are just the sensitives carrying a gene that gets triggered by circumstances

Every time you say Im down

There is something inside you

Says Im not done yet

Get Up

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

CHIN UP.

Wise words. The only thing preventing yourself from getting better is your own mind. You have to break the cycle. Be here now....not in the past, not in the present. It's one of the greatest traps ever designed as it's you own mind. The constant ruminating, excessive and obsessive checking is what fuels the cycle. After 12 months of sheer hell, i am starting to realise this. Of course the medication is helping but only you can ensure your own recovery. You can and will beat this!!!!!!

i obviously meant "in the present", as opposed to "not in the present" 😉

Agree with you. But it's not easy to control thoughts thats why Im having Hypnotherapy.

so how do you explain the feel of wanting to cry for no reason.

Feeling low in mood and dont seem to be able to get motivated. standing at the sink saying I'm p****d off feeling like this.

There must be some brain chemical at play somewhere.

Just saying I'm going to be happy today doesn't work.

But I agree to keep your mind concentrating , living in the now, being interested in things does help. Getting lost in an activity helps.

And I know on Sert I dont feel so low as on Citlapram so it must be doing something.

How I envy people who never worry about anything and just say, so what, and move on to the next thing, just forget it and within minutes snoring.

Agree, no one is going to waive a magic wand, its me who has to work on myself to build my mind up.

If I had a broken leg I would have build it up again after the plaster comes off

I Appreciate and understand what your trying to say.

I have to disagree to some point about this:

Just saying I'm going to be happy today doesn't work.

Your mind is made to remember things, things to stick throughout life. And it's just like anything else that you've ever learned, such as: reading, writing, etc once you do it over and over you learn it. When we start to feel down, depressed, anxious, our continual thoughts on it start to stick also which creates the ruminating. You have to try to turn each negative into positives even if you don't believe it at the time, and eventually it will stick. The longer periods we go through this down time and have those nasty negative thoughts popping in the longer that it will take for the positive feedback that you have to give yourself changing negative thoughts into positive ones but it will happen! I know this sounds easier said then doing it but keep at it, it will make a difference.

It isn't just saying. It's breaking the cycle through distraction, exercise, meditation, mindfulness, yoga etc whilst taking medication. Over time, the mind has created an unhealthy neural pathway but through neural plasticity we are able to rewire our brains. This is a scientific fact and has been proven. What i am saying is that it is much more helpful to address things through the above activities alongside the medication as opposed to just waiting for medication that may or may not kick in. I'm a case in point. It's taken me 12 months to recover and its only since i applied the above that it truly started to work. I would recommend anyone suffering from Anxiety to read 'At last a Life - Anxiety and Panic Free by Paul David. He nails it and it really inspired me. Good luck to all.
