Thalassemia and iron infusions

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi all,

I have mild Thalassemia which results in low ferritin and I become anaemic. I've had one iron infusion 2 years ago which corrected my anaemia but caused gastrointestional issues which took me 6 months to resolve. Is there anyone out there in the same situation? I'd like to hear about your experiences. My ferritin is low again and I'll need another iron infusion soon. I can't tolerate iron tablets.

You cannot tolerate iron tablets, but iron tablets are vital for healthy living. There are foods that also have iron in them and you can know that by checking the back of packaging of foods. Look for what has alot of iron in it and adjust your lifestyle to it.
