    hi fellow sufferer,

Change your GP- there is things out there that can help finding a sympathetic doctor helps i have suffered for 15 years an im not going to lie to you you will never be rid of this disease but through plastic surgery i have had years at a time of remission, yes it comes back and no the NHS say there is not enough people effected to start looking at cures but having good support from friends and family and fellow suffers will help you get through this.

good luck to you i feel your pain if you every need someone to talk to you can email me ****

I am very interested to stumble across this page as I have been looking for HS support groups or discussion forums with little success. I have been suffering from HS for around ten years, but was only diagnosed recently. I think misdiagnosis is common and it was only when I was finally referred to a dermatologist that I ever heard of the term hidradenitis suppurativa - and even the dermatologist spelled it wrong when she wrote it down for me which was not all that encouraging! It strikes me that for an illness affecting around 2% of the population very little energy is being devoted to researching the causes and treatments. I have several questions about treatment and the inevitability of progression, but for now I will just say hi to other sufferers and look forward to chatting with you.
