Thank goodness for Recumbent Bike

Posted , 6 users are following.

I bought one used some yrs ago when I stopped going to my gym in my mid 60's.....this way I could keep peddling at home.

My walking since hip replacement is horrible, I walked better 5 months out and now it's 4 yrs soon and it's way worse.....

Back, knees, foot/ankles.....so thankfully I get on this little bike in my living room and peddle while watching tv in the PM. And I was going to get rid of it, good thing I did not....gotta keep those knees moving or they will freeze up more than they are now.

Yeah the recumbent bike excellent. Physio told me rowing machine not gd .. Shame as I have a gd one in my garage going to waste. Something to do with the angle she said. I think as the prosthesis goes home over any period of time, the angles of hips, pelvis etc all continue to go through change. I have continued to lose height and no two days the same. I used to sail upstairs but now leaden and have to hold on tight. I am a lesser person and was never reconciled to the shock.....

We don't like to complain, I don't anyway, but it's forever with me this setback I never never expected....it's the same old mantra day in and day out......

      Hi Joy

Over here we can sometimes get referral for the gym/leisure from the GP.

Reduced rate and someone taylors an exercise plan especially for you.

For instance....me on 2 crutches. I have spoken to the nurse after the gP referred me, next step is an induction in the gym on Thursday and after that well we'll see.   As far as the nurse was concerned she thought the mnest things for me wouyld be the recumbant bike, cross trainer, treadmill, and some upper body weights. I do remember using the the treadmill and the recumbant bike before and quite enjoyed it.....so have to see what he says on Thurs

      Love

The recumbent bike sounds good, I think I'll look into this.  I have done yoga for many years, both pre and post hip replacements so I'm hoping to get back to it again following my recent revision.  Maybe a recumbent bike would be useful in the meantime?
