Thank goodness I found a whole lot of other suffers out there, I thought I was alone and a rare case with an unknown bunch of symptoms. I'm 33 and have been a suffer for 10 years. We all suffer from the common symptoms eg. heart pain, rib pain, shortness of breath etc. But I'm writting to tell people that I have found that it is definately a stress related syndrome, I went through a few years where I found a healthy outlet for stress, some thing that made me feel happy, (in my case horse riding), the pain left me for 5 years until recently I had to sell my horse causing me great upset and walla! the pain came back, depression etc, I find that the more stress and anxious I am, the more severe the pain coupled with short of breath, can't sleep on left side. I am now working on finding another stress releaser. How many people out there who have this suffer from anxiety, stressful situations, and feel depressed about life? I'd love to know.

I have had all the symptoms of Tietze's Syndrome for more years than you would believe! I had pericarditis to begin with way back in 1979, and from then on, I had all the symptoms of pericarditis, but not the disease. I have not found a doctor who even suggests Tietze's Syndrome, let alone knows what to do about it. I happened onto the name when I was reading about Costocronditis. (Trying to diagnose myself since a doctor has not done so). I have been told I have everything from chest wall pain, to pleuresy, to costocronditis to whatever comes to mind, I guess. My current doctor calls me an enigma. I seem to be worse when I do extra activity ... my chest used to feel tight/full/ like a rubber band is around it, hurt like heck, etc. etc. about two weeks out of a month. Now it is that way all the time. Since I am a hemophilia carrier I can't take aspirin or aspirin products, although I did take huge doses of aspirin when I had pericarditis. But eventually, I started having bleeds from my stomach and had to give it up. The swelling in or over my ribs is horrific, and so uncomfortable. The pain can go on for days at a time, an hour, or just a few minutes. I do get anxious but have not realized my problem is worse at the time since now it is worse all the time. I do get depressed, but the reason for that is probably the loss of two children, and sometimes I think that causes my brief bouts of depression. I am so short-winded, and yet any breathing tests I've had don't amount to much trouble in that area.

It is very frustrating, and hard to live with no matter what!!!

Good luck to you ... Gayle Kretschmer, Fernley, NV:o

I have just been diagnosed with this and I also suffer from high blood pressure and anxiety.

Feels like I am having a heart attack when symptons first present themselves!

I have had this pain in my chest..the same crushing pain and pressure for about 2 years. I have been told, after every test, that it is Costrocronditis. I am 45 years old and have a stressful job that I cannot give up. I also started riding my horse again in Feb. of this year. I love to ride but putting the saddle on (heavy western saddle) etc.. really seems to irritate it. I don't want to give it up because it is really my only hobbie. Did that bother you when you were riding? Have you ever had any doctor suggest or try the steriod shots in your chest? Love to hear back! Thanks for sharing. :?
