Iam having trouble getting an appt with gp I have just finished a two week course of amoxcillin to no avail, Iam worse now than before i saw the consultant. I cannot shift the phlem it sticks in my throat choking me and making me urge. I had a gp call back and even though reading the letter sent to him he wouldnt see me nor would he prescribe azthrymycin the consultant recommended to try if previous med didnt work. He says he cant treat me until i can provide a sample, I dont know what part he dosent understand but when i can provide a sample its not the right time to take to the surgery. any ideas

you ask any ideas? sad to say I am in much the same position David, and my solution would get me locked up for assault! so I am suffering in silence which is crazy I know, in this country (UK) you get better treatment if you are a bloody dog. good luck pal smile

I have had a great deal of luck with n-acytlcysteine or NAC for short.  I use the 600 mg pills. It has done wonders clearing up my sinuses and post nasal drip.  And it has restored by sense of smell which was lost for at least two years.  It is also available by prescription to be inhaled via nebulizer.  I have not pursued that yet because it smells like rotten eggs.  I might have to go there to help with my wheezing.  I take DuoNeb (similar to salbutemol) via nebulizer and also hypertonic saline solution.

You are welcome...I found this site and it has helped me a lot...I do a little different nebulizer medicane called Acetylcysteine 20%..it also breaks up the musus..My ENT doctor said that Azthrymycin helps with inflamation that we have with Broncho...that is why it works better for us...The info from this site helped me ask my doctor for it....Good luck we are all here for the same thing...
