THD (HALO) Operation for Grade 5 Haemorrhoids

I had op 17 days ago and feel today like I can finally see the light!  After suffering the agony, bleeding (continually wearing san towels) and life changing affects they bring you i finally decided to have the op.  I have had a terrible 17 days 2 visits to docs and 2 to hospital. part of the prob was caused by managing pain relief, allergic to anti-inflammatories, Tramadol gave me a panic attack and made me vomit, been on 60mg codeine 4 X per day and have been more or less sleeping in the bath. Saw surgeon day 15 who told me the op had worked and delay in recovery was because i couldn't take anti-inflam. He offered me morphine for the terrible pain which I declined.  Had 6 hours sleep longest since op (only been cat napping due to pain) so cut down on codeine all positive today.  Then I went the loo and felt a lump come out like my old piles (only 1 use to have quite a few), now stressing that I have had a prolapse.  The surgeon warned me I would have flaps of skin left but this feels more hard and shiny sorry to be graphic!!  Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and whether it would go down again, I have never been able to push them up as some people mention.  Thanks

Hi sally. I just thought I would reply to your thread. I had the op over 2 years ago and haven't had them since!!! It was so painful after op but so worth it. Good lucj for the full. Thd is by far the best thing I did.

I had my op on internal ones 25 days and still have what feels and looks like an external pile. It's actually the root of one of the ones cut and I'm told it's being pushed out by the swelling of another one cut. I'm told two more weeks should see it disappear. Hope your goes soon.

I am on my week number 7 since I had the THD operation. I am still in a very daily bad pain! I also wonder how much time does it take to fully recover. In addition, there are some piles at the opening of the anus which look like external piles. I was told that those piles will shrink but until now I can not see any good sign. I am really having too much pain and do not know what to do. I am fed up of pain killers.

I thought the Halo op is really good?, I had banding but yes it seems not worse, like prolapsing or popping out, they say or google does you cant feel internal ones. But I'm sure you can, its a weird feeling, like something is in there gritty! ....I'm tired of them ruling my days 24/7 and getting no where with doctors.

had thd with mucopexy done exactly two weeks ago. a few days ago, i noticed my bum hurt worse and had prolapse almost as bad as before. i noticed what appears to be a new internal hemorrhoid that looks raw and red at the end (maybe this is one that had been stitched up?) and a couple smaller external hemorrhoids that had never been there before. i've stayed away from straining, taking the exact amount of laxatives and fiber as recommended (there was only one incidence of straining and my bum looked and felt exactly as it had prior to this new incidence). i have a follow up appt in two weeks since my doctor is out of the office until then. i have been in panic mode for the past few days and though my doctor says this is a normal part of the healing process, i don't understand how it could have happened overnight from neat and tidy to worse than before. can anyone give me any advice or hope that this will get better?
