The CHANGE: Mom, why didn't you tell me the UNADULTERATED TRUTH about this relentless TSUNAMI?

Hello Lovely Ladies.....

Recently, I was chatting with a friend of mine regarding the DREADDED menopause. Our conversation intensified when we discussed how our mothers got through this HELL ON EARTH in one piece!! (If they truly did, and just FAKED their unhappiness in front of their husbands and offspring, and possibly took their RAGE out on others) That being said, how did your mother explain IT to you? Did she sugarcoat it, gloss over it, or just totally avoided the conversation with you? My friend and I are amazed at the countless numbers of mothers, who told their daughters, that menopause is THE CHANGE, and don't worry about it, you will get through it . WTH!! The Change? Hell to the naw! It is MORE than a change, it is a friggin TSUNAMI! Soooo... ladies, how did your mom describe menopause to you? Let me know your thoughts..

Hi Vivian, my Mom didn't really tell me much about it. In the years leading up, her anxiety increased for sure, and I remember her having some insomnia, and she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia during that time. oh, and she tried hrt but the first attempt didn't agree with her (made anxiety worse,), so she stopped it and didn't try anything else.

She is mow in her 80's, and running circles around me, that's for sure. So I cling to hope with her example and the support of the lovely ladies here.

TSUNAMI is right! Blessings to you, dear.

    Hello Vivian,

I think menopause, this crazy time in some women's lives, is so very different for each woman. Some never experience one symptom, just simply quit having their monthly cycle and go right on with life. They indeed are the very blessed ones. Others have symptoms for the rest of their lives. My Mama come from a generation that really didn't talk about such things because there really wasn't a lot of information out there for them. I know when my Mama started this change we knew something was happening to her body, so I started researching and we came to realize she wasn't crazy or losing her mind, like so many women have been made to believe, she was going through menopause. Hers was a very long, hard journey, but one that she did come through. So when this journey started for me and I walked the exact same path she did I kinda knew what to expect, somewhat. I honestly don't think anyone can truly prepare you for this journey. You have to navigate it as best you can according to your symptoms. It helps so much to have someone to discuss what you are going through. The ladies on this forum have been a great help and comfort to me. Hope you find assurance here that you are not the only one to be experiencing these symptoms during this crazy phase of life.

    GOD Bless
