The End Is Near

Hi all, thought I would make a post, an update for people who are PreOp, or having doubts. rolleyes

I am three month in on my first THR and four weeks in on my second THR.

I have been quiet today, reading and sleeping, lunch was Mince + Poached Eggs on toast, and resting after doing a largish shop last night, with my new Army issue 3day backpack.  cool

It  was more of a weight than usual, and I managed it fine, 2X2L cokes, Large bag of Ice, pkt of ABs Oven chips, bottle of very very dry white wine, some sliced cooked roast beef, frozen veg, and frozen fish, and a few potatoes,  all fitted in easily and I did not need a carrier bag as it all just fitted, and walked back with the stick quite comfortably, took the flight of stairs up to my flat without difficulty and slept from 2am till 10 am very simply, on my right side, odd wake up with the wife reading, I use an in-flight light blocker for those moments. cheesygrin

All is very convenient in the same block for me here. Today I just had to go to the GPs, for sick note and scripts, then the Chemists for my tablets, and I was very pleased to be able to lift the stick from the road, just 20 paces at a time, then on the way back I walked half way home, holding the stick, walking properly for the first time in two years. cheesygrin

Quite a moment for me, my sick note is for three weeks and I have my six week check up on 14th Sept, I should be back at work a day or so after that, and I have the 19th and 20th off for my 55 birthday on 20th, back at work and getting back to normal after, almost five long years of terrible painful suffering, misdiagnosis', and almost becoming housebound because of the OA that had developed in both hips.

I was so very very lucky that It was caught in time as my legs are looking like they used to 10 years ago, just need the left leg, to measure up the same as the right one, it is growing back, from the calf up through the thigh, I am left sided.

So four months in all for me at my age and being quite fit and strong to come right.  idea

It has been quite a year for me as last year I had a cancer scare that needed investigating and luckily was unfounded, just an internal scar that I got as a young child that showed up on the MRI scan after passing a Kidney Stone.  rolleyes confused

It has been quite a journey and the light is now at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for reading my posts and kind regards and healing wishes to you all.   cool

Ian.

Yourosts are always interesting and often an insight as to how something can be managed. Best of luck with going back to the job, and your birthday celebrations don't disappear from the forum completely!

what  a journey we are all on ...

seems that you are doing really great ian ... I mean, walking and carrying that load at 4 weeks post-op !   is this different than with the first one? I can imagine that without the OA pain in either hip, perhaps it is ....

Hi Renee yes the second one has been faster than the first one in every way, just need to be able to put on a sock without the sock gadget, it is a bit of a stretch so not doing that just yet, all in all I am so pleased it has been sorted out in such a short time, I will still be commenting here obnce I get back to work, and will always help where ever I can, and I have bought my birthday present, I wanted a black flyfishing vest for my photography and found one with loads of pockets for £20 on Amazon and just bought it, and the new back pack was an early birthday pressie too, as needed one so bably.

We have got over the Bug, I caught it twice, with all the symptoms, Sandy is aover it and the all clear for our area came today.

Yes the healing is quicker the second time round, perhaps the body is in healing mode, or a spin off from the high protein diet, and the excersieses, all together a faster responce from my body.

Hope you get good news and a date and all goes well, I will still be posting for a long time here.

It is great to type things out and I am also practicing for my second short book that is going to be finished soon, and published on Amazon.

KInd regards and thanks for reading my comments...Totsiens!!

    Hi Ian,

This kind of post is what it's all about, and why we are al here. You are an inspiration to us all, and a prime example of what we all hope to achieve.

I hope this isn't goodbye as I'm sure you still have lots of experience and insight to pass on to your fellow hippies who may be feeling apprehensive and in need of reassurance.

If this is indeed goodbye then I wish you well in all of your future ventures and I hope you and your new parts go for many many happy miles together.

    Take care 😀

    Hello Ian

I am so happy for you. It won't be much longer for me to be as lucky as you are.

The day you go for your 6 week check up is the day I go in for my right hip to be done. I can understand your happiness of being out pof pain and able to carry on with your life. I hope once I am done I will be on the better road to recovery.

My Birthday is Next week cheesygrin
