The exchange of differing views is so important

The exchange of views in a non combative way is so important. That exchange should legitimately include observations as to perceived weaknesses of logical argument, weakness of evidence in a report, and, as here, avoidance of overreliance on single person's view.

For myself, I am keen that readers of reports keep in mind who is paying for a report or who is funding the person or body paying for a report. Big Pharma are cute at how they get their view across with presenting it as an independent view. Our lives may well depend on realising from whom a report is really coming and so preventing us making a bad decision. There are times when we do desperately need help from Big Pharma. Let us choose the right one.

I study health science subjects and you're right, it's exceedingly important to first notice who's written the report or study, might they get any benifits, financial or otherwise from publishing it, which may indicate that the document is biased.

Clues are there but you can't always tell so ask yourself, where is the study published? Is it a reputable source? Do you trust it?

If a report or parts of one are referred to in a website are the report sources quoted?

If not find another report or study on the subject.

    Doc!

This is the point I was trying to make on the previous discussion regarding what the doctor thought about medicines, and such.  It's important to look a the facts then form an opinion (which is everyones right even if different) and by what you've found, state your mind.

Sometimes when one post a new discussion, they are hoping everyone agrees with all said.  Because what seemingly is a different view doesn't mean that one is challenging the other.

I would hope it doesn't change ones mind about the person and allow each and everyone of us to be ourselves, even if it doesn't match what the majority says.  It would behoove those who feel there is a challenge present to just back off and realize that one is allowed to think and write with an individual view and w/o bias!

Dah, hope that even made sense.

    Hugs to all,

Makes sense but I think challenges can be good if they're done sensitively and kindly. I've learnt things from having gentle arguments and people have learnt things from me. Sometimes views are slightly altered or more so, but it's all about respect and tact I think.

You are so right, Georgia. Everyone on this forum is hurting. It is so important to be sensitive and kind. If someone is having a bad day and misreads forgive them. If someone has a bad day and answers crossly we need to understand and forgive

      Georgia ~

I do agree with you regarding the challenges.  However, I've found on this site especially, that many aren't well enough to be challenged and it's exhausting to them just to be posting.  I think I'll pass on any challenges as I respect everyones opinion and I'd like to keep that vision of each of you.

However, go for it if you find it's something you really are passionate about!

      warm regards,

If challenges are sensitive and kind as I said they don't have to exhaust anyone any more than any conversation. I think getting frustrated and angry can be tiring but when people are nice about everything it's uplifting and can make us feel better.

Also challenges are good because we're listening and being listened to and coming up with solutions,
