The future is bright

Well folks, I have read and seen quite a few posts of post-THR people who are living life to the full. From the hisband who is a 4th dan karate expert, to edurance runners.

But today, I saw a post elsewhere which has really inspired me - and I thought I would share it. He "started doing CrossFit about two years after  (surgery) and began hiking at the three year point. Ran my first 5K four years after". He has now built up to a stage (over 7 years) where he is going to compete in the CrossFit Open. This is a form of elite fitness. Check it out.

It just goes to show, that with a very few exceptions, we should all be able to do most of the things we want to. This should inspire us to achieve our own personal goals - even if they are in the real world.

    Michael,

Leading up to my op, I could never see what having it done would accomplish, I used to watch people walking and think I wish I could do that, all I saw was the day of the operation, not what it would do for me, fear like I have ever experienced [even worse than seeing a big spider] took over.

Now 4 months on, I cannot believe how far I have come, from this wobbly person on crutches not knowing how to walk properly, to going to concerts, walking and playing with my dog, getting on 2 buses and no one giving me their seat as they think I am disabled. I have a life now, I can smile in fact I dont think I have stopped smiling since I have had it done.

To all newbies in two minds whether to have it or not, please dont be like me an ostrich, hold your head up high and do it, because believe me, the life you are having now get cut out with the bone, the new life starts as soon as you wake up.

I wish every one of my wonderful hippie family a very happy and safe Easter.

Lots of love to you all.

    Sue xx

Oh Thank you Michael - Also shows that it might takes time, people -

(I just complained to my landlord how disappointed I am with my progress ...

too slow, too long, still stiff and sore --- feel a bit ashamed and ungrateful now)

I am just concerned about wearing my joint out, especially as revision would be a major job for me due to the acetabular insert which proved impossible to remove from the titanium shell last time the surgeon tried.
