The horrors of compression stocking

I have had two hip replacements. First one, May 2017 with few restrictions, Surgeon permitted me to sleep on my side after the wound had healed, with a pillow between my knees. No compression stocking and only one anti coagulant per day. I do not know the strength of the pill.
Operation two. On my back for six weeks, compression stocking on for six weeks, and two anti coagulants per day - 2.5 mg per pill.
Op One, very few restrictions, Op Two as above. Anti coagulants still have another 8 days to run, which takes me through to Saturday, September 22. I am wondering why I have to continue with the stockings after that date, it seems rather unnecessary, particularly in view of the completely differing methods if each surgeon. .

Yes, two different surgeons, but surgeon one is now preparing to retire, and surgeon two was recommended.

That explains it. It all depends on the surgeon. I had my operation on 27th June and was really surprised that I wasn't required to wear the stockings but had 1 tablet to take each day...my physio told me after 2 weeks that I could now lie on my operated side ( which unfortunately wasn't my favourite side but was grateful to have a choice of position) and I was told in hospital that my surgeon doesn't promote compression stockings. I had my knee replacement last September and had to wear the stockings ( different surgeon) so I know how uncomfortable and hot they feel.....

Ah ............... I was on blood thinners for 4 weeks, and stockings too. As you say, once blood thinners are finished it makes no sense to need to use the stockings too.
When I stopped wearing the stockings, I was finally able to get a decent night's sleep!
