The importance of Pacing Ourselves

Posted , 5 users are following.

How many of us overdo it when we feel we are having a good day. Here's a little reminder to pace ourselves

The sudden impulses punctuating everyday life – a distant memory

The deed not matching the thought

Every good intention ruined by the invisible sprite lurking inside me

Occasionally he sleeps and I sneak a little freedom

But he wakes and expects his pay back for such insolent behaviour

The crushing fatigue and numbness bring me to my knees

To the outside world I am a lazy work shy individual

For I was seen walking the dog yesterday and in the local shop

enough evidence for the tittle tattle

But what of today. I will not be seen for Sprite has pinned me to my bed

 payback indeed.

Excellent!! I've been lucky, my friends and colleagues know I work as hard as possible but fully understand how this can happen!

sun is shining, got to go shopping so it's time to take the roof off my car, tie up the hair and enjoy the sun!

    Have a great day

Be kind to yourself and try and get used to saying "no" to requests if you feel it will be more than you can cope with.  I now tell work colleagues that I cannot join them for evenings out after work not because I do not want to but because if they want me to function at all at work the following day/week a late night is not a good idea. They now don't take it personally - even when I forget their names!

I totally agree with Maggers and I know that saying NO can be difficult but you have to as other people will not understand that you can't help them.  We need to be heard too.  You have the right to say NO, if you feel it's the answer you want to give to a person and not feel bad about it. wink x

Ive never been a person to say no to anybody, always been their to lend a helping hand, and a willing ear to listen to any ones problems. But Im going to have to start saying no. its time I put myself 1st for once in my life. gentle hugs take care x you are all a fantastic lot on here.

    Hi Maggers

So so true.  We all do it, feel good and the challenges start to get something done. Pacing is difficult but agree we must all adapt this in to our lives.

One day at a time with positive and calm attitudes. wink x

Absolutely onwards and upwards. PMA (positive mental attitude) easier said than done sometimes but I always try my best. Laughter is after all the best medicine.

It was lovely of him. He bought me vouchers as he wasn't sure what I could cope with so I went and picked what I thought would make me feel good. There was even some left over to get some of the products they used in the facial for me to try at home.   Keep hinting although if other half is anything like mine the  hints will go straight over his head!
