The National ME Centre

Back in the early days of my illness our local NHS trust had nothing to offer in the way of services for ME/CFS and no one really knew what to do with me. I decided to pay for a consultation at the National ME Centre in order to have a firm diagnosis on paper.
The £250 fee covered a consultation with Dr Mitchell and a follow up which was conducted by telephone as travelling to London from the Midlands was too much to be attempted for a second time. Unfortunately the treatments offered were not an option for me as 1 - it was too expensive and 2 - it was too far to travel but I felt it was worth the money I had spent to see someone who knew about ME and to get a firm diagnosis that my doctor could not argue with and therefore could not continue to fob me off with anti depressants.
In recent years an excellent ME clinic has opened up in a hospital 25 miles from my home and I now go there courtesy of the NHS.
Anyway, if you are intersted then I suggest you contact the National ME Centre at Harald Wood Hospital, Gubbins Lane, Romford Middlesex.
Mods - I hope it is ok to post this info. It is to help members who might be interested.
