It seems this flare will not let me go and every prescription side effects were as bad as te fibro symptoms.I havent had a good night in weeks and the pain seem to have magnified. My muscles in my back feels like they need to be constantly stretched. My neck and shoulder muscles are tense and i get pain that feels like needle pricks running from my neck to just below my collar bone.
My ribs hurt and lastnight, all of a sudden i got a chill that almost shattered the teeth in my mouth.I literally hurt all over and this pain is exhausting.
How do you all get through a flare?

Poor sweetie! Not easy these flare ups. Sometimes it's due to the barometric pressure changes or some stress happening in your life at the moment. Stress is a real instigator. Can you go for a gentle massage Kippy? That is always a comfort. A lovely soak in an Epsom Salts bath can relieve your muscles. Vitamin D can help in those times as well. We often do not get enough sunshine. I always find I feel so much better after a sunbath. Those chills I have experienced often as well sweetie. A hot water bottle becomes my bosom buddy in those times. Know you are not alone in your challenges Kippy. Sending you gentle hugs! Maggie xx

This is a horrible illness and I sympathize totally. I am very up and down at the minute with extreme pain.
The only suggestion I have for you is that the flare up will either pass or at least calm for a time.
I am getting very irritated with people telling me to excersice, I cannot get them to understand how the pain from that is not consultant with the amount I do.
Doctors will still not diagnose as fibro but will say chronic pain syndrome. I do however have all the classic symptoms, head aches, itching, weight gain, Tec.
Try to remain as positive as you can and do whatever it takes to ease the pain. If only a hydropool come come on prescription! That would help me for sure.
Hope you soon get some respite.
Best wishes.

I agree with you . People say get more exercise, but how can I exercise on the days when it is impossible to put one foot in front of the other? When I can't even get dressed. I walk a bit each day, but often it is a real challenge to walk fifty metres. The only sure diagnosis pour Fibromalgia is the pressure points test and General Practitioners can't do it. You need to get referred to a pain clinic if possible. When I saw a rheumatolgist he didn't even consider the possibility of fibro, but the pain clinic did the test and had a definitive diagnosis in 5 minutes. Once you are diagnosed they can give you the correct treatment to ease the pain. I have a jacuzzi and am certain it would give me some relief at least temporarily, but I can't get in and out of it anymore because of the pain and stiffness. Hope your pain calms down soon, it is exhausting to suffer constantly. Take care.

Hi Kippy,
i too was in the same situation some months ago, I had tried everything and eventually went to a herbalist. I now take Holland & Barrett Pomegranate concentrate (unfiltered) every day, this had an amazing effect within a week! I can't say it's completely gone but I can now do most things again except carrying a heavy bag with my left hand because elbow was so badly affected. Hey ho I've got a right one 😀
Also I have removed gluten from my diet. Try this for just a month, I am convinced.
good luck.

Hey Kippy. I too went through a flare that lasted 6 months. I had side effects from the meds that just made me feel worse. I finally took a different approach. I changed my diet. Which I know is not easy when you're feeling this way. You can barely get up to get yourself fed but by removing gluten, sugar, dairy and caffeine really helped. Started drinking smoothies. Certain fruits and veggies help minimize the inflammation.
Also taking vitamin B and D helped with my energy. As magnesium did for the restless leg and muscle stiffness.
I also started doing seated yoga and some mild stretches as exercise, as much as they tell you, was not something I could do.
Lastly I take Epsom salt and baking soda baths to help detox and relax my muscles. If pain is still too much to bear then I take ibuprofen and use either bio freeze or salon pas for deep tissue aches.
Hope this helps and know that this too shall pass.

I didnt know a flare could last this long and every attempt to do something normal leads to punisment the next morning.I pray my body follows what my mind believes...
Going through a flare sucks. Its like the person who loved the outdoors and doing fun geeky things is fading and i'm now in an abusive relationship with my body.
Something else popped up and i feel so embarrased im not going to mention it to my doc.My 'vagi' started to pain what the hell kind of illness is this?
I really need to get a soaking tub to do the epsom salt and baking soda.
Thank you all so much.

Hello there!
Flares are awful when they seem like they are going on and on!
I just fight mine with every ounce of fight I can find until the flare ends!!
I fool my flare into thinking I'm in control 🙂
Think happy positive thoughts my lovely!
