The pain of "real" pain (the worst that could happen to a hypochondriac?!)

Hi all,

I had intermittent toothache on a Monday and Tuesday a couple of weeks ago and made appt to see my dentist later in the week.

Then Wednesday it suddenly got worse and would not go away.

i rang at 10am and got appt at 4pm and OMG every minute crawled like an hour till i could go there.

She fixed it though, root canal needed, hurt again when numbness wore off but then settled.

The reason I'm sharing is that I wondered if I was over reacting to my anxiety. In this case I wasn't but in the past I have.

I am actually better than i used to be and both my doctor and psychologist agree.

I guess i do avoid certain situations, eg not going to work because I feel a bit "off."

if i feel ok no worries but if i do not feel ok, worries!

It can be so frustrating trying to decipher that difference between health anxiety and real symptoms and things we need to address. glad you listened to yourself and got it fixed 😃

Hi Carrie, yes, it is hard. i was at doctor today for urine test result. Nothing found.

Doc thinks pain could be muscular, or maybe related to varicoseles,

Basically, not serious but when it hurts I worry not that is mega painful. Not like the tooth!

So, along with the pain, it's a wonder you didn't have a full on panic attack!!

I'm glad you got your tooth taken care of!
