The ringing in my ear is making me depressed! Help..

so a few weeks ago, like many others, when I went to sleep I could hear a VERY loud ringing of both high and low pitches. Before this happened, I noticed my ear was hurting one day, but i ignored it. It has now been over a week of constant ringing....I went to the doctor, and she prescribed me antibiotics in case of an infection. After taking the antibiotics, my right ear started to hurt randomly, but the ringing isn't as loud during the day, although I still hear it at night. I want to tell myself that it will go away, but I have read so many instances where people get tinnitus one day and the ringing never ceases to stop. Has anyone ever been able to get rid of the ringing. Is it normal for my ear to have pain if I do have an infection? I only ask because she said it didn't look as though I had one.

If anyone comments on here, and would like to share what they took to relieve the ringing, please do so! I'm willing to try just about anything... So far I've taken antibiotics, done headstands, Robitusen, Sudafed PE, head massages, iron supliments, probiotics, all to no avail...I am unable to see an ENT until late August so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

All those things will drive you insane because you are 'focussing' on it plus they don't work. Best advice is to see a very good audiologist who is specifically trained in TRT(tinnitus retraining therapy) there are good books but a careing audiologist is what helped me.

He/she will set you on the path and it can take 6 months to a year, or even longer so you get to a stage where you just don't care about the sound and it dinisnishes and fades into the background, most of the time you don't hear it. Which area are you in, is there a good NHS audiologist in your area?

So it has been about a month and a half now...the tinnitus is still persistant, but I try to not let it get to me. For the most part, I've just been going about my life, trying to do what I can in the mean time to relieve symptoms until I am able to see a professional. I switched to 100% VG juice, and then I questioned even that because it didn't relieve the ringing. I ended up emailing the company, velvetcloud, and even they put propylene glycol in their "100%" VG e-juice for flavorings. Because of that, I decided to quit the vape and see if that helps. It has been about two days since I quit the vape, no apparent difference just yet. I know most of you mean well to recommend me to seek all this help, but I am a college student that just doesn't have the funds right now to see a specialist. I will as soon as I am able to though, possibly at the end of August. There have been many cases of people who have gotten tinnitus shortly after vaping, and many people think it is because propylene glycol is known to be otoxic to the inner ear (if applied topically). Although this isn't scientific fact, it is worth trying since there hasn't been any studies done on smoking propylene gycol. I have read cases where if the person quit the vape soon enough, their ears and hearing would heal in a few weeks. In other cases, if the person ignored the symtoms for a long period (such as several months-to a year), they think they now have tinnitus permanently. Like I said, this isn't a "for sure deal" and I don't want to scare anyone who does vape, but it is worth a shot! *fingers crossed*
