The same pain has returned even though I have a kidney to bladder stent - is that normal?

A month a 6mm kidney stone was discovered I had a stent fitted but the past few days I've started to get the original pain again. Can you get pain from kidney stones even with a stent fitted? I'm having the stone blasted and stent removed next week.

Yeah, the stents gave me the same exact pain after a ureteroscopy. It was so bad that they hospitalized me after my surgery when they'd planned for me to go home. The pain did go away, but they were still uncomfortable and I was happy when they were removed.

Are you in the UK? Just trying to get my head around all the different ways kidney stones are treated.
I was in hospital 2 weeks ago and they found a 6mm stone in my left kidney and a 7mm stone in my right kidney.
I was sent home with antibiotics for an infection and no pain relief.
I've been back to the GP who prescribed Naproxen and Tamulosin. I've got an appt on 18th August to discuss removal options.
Just wondering why you've been given a stent and I've been sent home?! Everyone is different I suppose!
I'm currently sat on the sofa with a hot water bottle on my tummy and back:-( dreading going to work later.
Sorry for barging in on your post with lots of questions!!
Kidney stones suck!!!

I would definitely see a urologist. That isn't going to help control the pain at all. When I told the urologist I'd been given naproxen by my GP he rolled his eyes. They have a much better understanding of how to treat stones. I was hospitalized after a ureteroscopy because of pain complications from the stents, but hospitals are supposed to give you pain meds before you leave if you show up in pain. That's the only thing to do for stones if you're trying to let them pass. There's no option but to control the pain.
There are lots of ways to treat stones. I'd definitely consult a urologist for this. And no, I'm in the States.
