The Sinclair Method Online Support Tool - Coming Soon

Hi all.
I just wanted to share with you some wonderful news that will enable many, many more people to be helped recover from alcohol dependency in the coming year.
C3 Foundation Europe have been accepted for a grant from the UK's National Lottery Grant Funding that will enable us to set up an online support tool/workbook for all of those using naltrexone or nalmefene to help them reduce their alcohol dependency.
Along with a couple of generous donations from another couple of UK companies, we now have far more money than we originally budgeted for. Our original budget allowed for a base project of a simple, effective online support tool build. People will be able to individually access this tool and use it during their recovery.
However, with the additional donations received, in addition to the base grant from the National Lottery, we are able to build a far, far more individualised experience - including individual log-ins, best practices, drink diary, motivational videos and the ability to individualise the recovery to the individual, rather than making a model that the individual tries to fit to (which is something that is all-too-evident within existing treatment providers).
There is now much work to do, but we have much experience that we can utilise, including the experience of myself and Claudia Christian (as the accredited counsellors within C3 Foundation Europe) and the very, very important experience and knowledge of Paul Turner, who many of you know from this forum, and maybe even personally know, too.
Our goal is that by mid 2018, every single person who choses The Sinclair Method as their recovery choice, will have an individualised, easily accessible workbook/tool to follow, making their smooth transition through The Sinclair Method as smooth as possible, and covering many of the queries that are often raised here.
The Sinclair Method does not suit everybody looking to ease their dependency on alcohol. But this is going to become the most comprehensive and customised Sinclair Method tool available, if they wish to use it.
And yes, it is a tool that will be 100% free to anyone who wants to use it!
Thank you all for your support to myself and others throughout 2017. This is the main reason that I have been a little quiet on here lately. Grant applying takes many weeks of preparation and hard work, but I am thankful that all of you are just as vocal in your desire to help others as I have been.
In 2018, C3 Foundation Europe will be moving from helping hundreds, to helping thousands who are looking for help with their alcohol dependency issues.

Thanks! It does feel good that all the hard work has resulted in something that is going to help so, so many people, but it does drive me more than a little bit crazy that it is normal, non-medical type folk that have to push and push and push for proper, medically-assited treatment to be on the table when it is they that should be informing us about it.
It's hard to think of another medical condition for which the patient has to educate the doctor!

If you are in the UK, google C3 Foundation Europe and the site explaining more will come up. If you are in the US, google C3 Foundation and it should come up with the American site. Both sites have tons more information so you can see if you think it might be a suitable option for you.
Both C3 Foundation organisations are charity organisations that support people through to recovery using this medical treatment for free. Everything we offer is free, whether that be basic information, resources or actual counselling support.

Sadly, it's unlikely that this online tool would directly be of benefit there, Nicole. It's primarily going to be for use once someone has either of the two available medications and to guide them through the treatment as smoothly as possible - an element of additional support is required to meet the terms of prescribing (if a doctor is willing to consider it) and this will meet that requirement.
As we are counsellors and not physicians, we are unable to influence whether a doctor is willing to prescribe or not beyond trying to educate them on a one-to-one basis with the patient's consent. We can write to any individual doctor if requested to do so, highlighting the benefits of using naltrexone off-label (ie to helps someone reduce their consumption, rather than just prescribing to someone to help manage their cravings once they are abstinent), but some doctors are not even willing to entertain the idea of swaying from the official prescribing guidelines, no matter what the evidence says
The only way that will truly change is if the NHS at some point decide to make naltrexone an on-label medication across the entire country for those still drinking, and sadly whether they do that or not is well beyond anyone's abilities to influence. Until then, there are doctors who won't even attempt to listen (like yours, by the sounds of it), doctors who will listen and prescribe to see how things go, and other doctors who have already made the leap and seen naltrexone be of benefit to their patients and are going to continue prescribing it to others it might help.
