The Urolift procedure; patient views and questions

Would it be possible to keep this thread purely about Urolift and a means of sharing experiences from those who have undergone the process and invite debate from those considering it.
The Urolift process plus pros and cons are accurately described at many a website. Other very long threads discuss in detail BPH and other treatments such as TURPS, laser tend to overshadow people looking for advice on Urolift.
So for me, tired of getting up in the night. Tired of the medication and its side effects, tiredness and ED. Quality of life getting me down. I am 60 and reckon to be pretty fit and active.
I underwent this treatment (as an alternative to TURPS) 2 weeks ago at one of the 5 or 6 clinics/hospitals that appear to offer this treatment in the UK. It really was as simple as described on the web.
I had a 30 minute consultation with the consultant whereby he explained the procedure.
The treatment was booked for 10 am., it took about 15 minutes. I had it done under a local anaesthetic. To be frank if you are used to having your prostate and other bits probed there is no pain. It is just the thought of it you have to come to terms with. After the treatment you have to drink a lot of water to flush your system but I was allowed to drive home by dinner time.
First warning here. I did have to stop probably every 15 minutes with a sudden need to urinate. Fortunately I took a urine bottle from the clinic !
I could write for ages but will see what response I get to this post. I know on the day I was there, 4 other blokes were having the procedure and I sensed there was a regular flow of patients.
I’m now going through the period whereby I’m asking myself is there any improvement? It’s only 2 weeks in. I’m not sure is the answer at the moment. We are all different and recovery and improvement I am told does take time anything from 2/3 weeks to 2/3 months maybe longer. Your system needs time to readjust, I understand that, I don’t know how much time but I’m due for a follow up next week. I'm remaining positive.Would welcome comments from others.

FYI... Saw this today. No links allowed here so if this is of interest a quick google will find this.
"NeoTract, Inc. Announces Medicare Administrative Contractor First Coast Service Options (FCSO) Coverage for the UroLift®System for BPH
Coverage Expands Access to Minimally Invasive Treatment for Millions in Florida, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands"
From "Business wire'"

This came across this morning. They don't like links here but a search out to find the "Center Watch" site. It appears that NeoTract is trialing the application of Urolift where there is 'median lobe' enlargement, currently a disqualifier for candidicy. There are links to eligibility and how to volunteer.
Clinical Trial Announcement
RESEARCH STUDY SUMMARY
"MedLift Study: Median lobe Prostatic UroLift Procedure
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of using UroLift in subjects with a prostatic median lobe enlargement due to BPH."

I just want to thank all the posters on this thread. It's comforting to know that four days after my Urolift operation my experiences are not atypical. I slept through the night last night and this morning had the first healty pee I'd had in a very long time although there was still a bit of blood in it. I think I now have reason to be optimistic about the outcome.

Well, it's day 4 since my procedure and it's been 20 hours since my last perhaps overly optimistic post and things have taken a turn. It's 1:30 AM here and I just woke up to go pee. I strained to produce just a couple of ounces, it was a bit painful, but what concerns me is that there was a bit more blood than usual and a few small "chunks" of what appears to be coagulated blood. Does anyone have advise or a comment?

Is that the uro lift proceedure or TURP. If it is Urolift you must be a little concerned, if it is TURP then that is normal.

Hi Steve. It was the Urolift procedure that I had. It turns out I became too active too soon after the procedure. It didn't help that I had a urinary tract infection. I passed out at the gym on Friday and was taken to the hospital. Got a good anti-biotic and now everything is working fine. No more bleeding. Thanks for your concern.

Not sure I can add a lot to the three reports I've already offered. I was hoping the thread would develop in an exact Urolift only way bit it's a mass of comment now far removed from my original request

Hi Charles,
I read your last report from a year or so ago which would have been 9 months post Urolift, if I have it right.
You say that you still believe in the procedure but that it didn't work for you, and you're in a dilemma regarding next steps.
Are you saying that you have received some benefits but not all you wanted but that it might not be an affordable option because of your regional NHS? Anyway would like to hear it in your own words.
Also, and forgive me if you already answered this, but could you give us an idea of what benefits, if any, you did get from the procedure. Perhaps an IPSS score before and after, or anything else that might be pertinent such as what your retention was then and what it is now.
And lastly, have you made any decisions yet moving forward.
Jim

CORRECTION: My third paragraph should have read in part...
"...but that a second Urolift might not be an affordable option...

Good Morning
I started this thread around 2 years ago directly after my Urolift procedure in a hope that we could gather feedback across the UK. I paid to go private because of the NHS situation here. I've had a few reminders to update this discussion and will do for those interested in the next 48 hours. To answer two questions below I had 4 implants and resumed normal activities including cycling pretty soon afterwards.
