The woman's cures.

Bartholin abscesses are by far one of the worst things that can happen to someone's lady bits. I've dealt with about 5 very small cysts within the past year, but always drained themselves and not very painful. Today I went to the hospital to get mine lanced with a word catheter. I read so many of these stories. They made me happy I wasn't alone and also empathetic for anyone who has to deal with this special kind of hell.

It flared up about 3 days ago, started relatively small. Even after doing sitz baths, the next day it was significantly larger and turned abscess. This thing was huge. It went from a walnut to a clementine orange in thickness and ranged from the anus area to about mid way up my vagina. It wasn't round, it was long.

I have slept 6 hours in 2 days because of the painq .To make matters worse I put 2 drops of pure tea tree oil on the cyst and it caused a chemical burn making my pain 10x worse and even more swollen. I didn't everything I could think of. Constant sitz baths, heating pad, and some Internet concoctions. I used coconut oil in the outside just to sooth the chaffing. I have had 6 hours of sleep in the past 2 days from all the pain.

When I woke up today I couldn't walk/stand or bend down without crying. I was trying to avoid the hospital, but realized that this was out of my hands. I was so scared to get it my vag sliced open, but I'm glad I did. It is amazing of the instant relief. Even though they numbed me the procedure was definitely painful. I really hope that I won't ever have to do this again. Any time I get one of these things I just think "it would be great to be a man right now."

My little vent.

Mother nature messed up man. Women have less repoductive chances than men do, we are the carrier and yet are more prone to infections.

Good luck to you all. It sure sucks being that 1 out of 50 women to experience such a horrible, tramatizing event.

I'm so sorry for what you went through and so glad that it's over for you. I had one last year on New Year's Eve I just couldn't deal with it anymore because and mine was at the same spot as your but more internalized...I couldn't even see how it would ever pop on its own since it was so deep, to make matters worse the ER Doctor didn't numb me down there and said that I shouldn't feel anything but I felt the worst pain of my life. It was horrible beyond words, the most traumatizing pain I've ever felt and thinking about it still gives me chills. Whatever he did caused me to have uncontrollable chills after the procedure and my jaw locked up and my teeth chattered incomtrollably, my whole body was as cold as ice. Then i had to go back and they hooked me up to iv antibiotics and hospitalized me because I had an intense neck pain and extreme headaches. this is getting long so I'll just wrap it up but I now take turmeric daily and that helps with that occasional swelling of the gland and prevents further infections! Thank you for sharing your experience. Lets hope this nasty monster never returns!

I am so sorry to hear about that. I couldn't even imagine doing that with no numbing agent. Sound like your doc had no idea what they were doing. In my waiting room I sounded like I was being torchered. Haha I only had a curtain and was right by the nurses station so I could only imagine what others were thinking. My catheter fell out this morning so I went for a replacement. It feels a lot better. I heard silica was good for prevention, do you think turmeric is better?
